"lovely cottage a bit pricey with parking etc"
Vicky – 29 Oct 2018
"Excellent cottage with everything that you need for a stay. Close to shop and pubs/restaurants that are dog friendly. Parking space is small but plenty of parking up the lane so not an issue."
Garfield – 5 Oct 2018
"we enjoyed the cottage and the location and would book the cottage again."
Mary – 21 Sep 2018
"Very pleasant surroundings very quiet, just what we wanted."
Katrina – 14 Sep 2018
"From first opening the front door the place had a very strong spell of damp, dog odours and body odours which permeated the whole house. We opened all doors and windows for several hours but made no difference. We only stayed till 1.30am the first night , because the bed, duvet and mattress and whole bedroom smelled so strongly it affected our ability to sleep. We decided there was no alternative but to leave."
Lesley – 31 Aug 2018
"S19953 was delightful. Only drawback was parking. Should be advertised as one small parking space. ie :- mini, Fiat 500 etc. We have Ford Focus and gad to park it up the top of lane. Neighbours complained we hadn’t left enough room for buggies or invalid motor. Even though she had none. So to stop any inconvenience we parked in Sutton Road."
Confirmed guest – 3 Aug 2018
"S19953 is a very comfortable and clean place. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was quite spacious for the size of cottage. There were shops, chip shops and pubs very close. There is a good bus service if you don’t fancy driving into town."
PEARSON – 6 Jul 2018
"Very pretty cottage and very well equipped, although a little cluttered. Less possibly would feel like more. We did find however the lack of a private garden difficult, as a public path ran right outside the gate. The parking was tricky to say the least but we did manage it, Citroen Xsara Picasso."
Kim – 29 Jun 2018
"Lovely little cottage, brilliant location, easy to get into Weymouth and the beach. Very small parking place but parking at the end of the lane on the road, beds not particularly comfy but overall a good little cottage"
SINDEN – 1 Jun 2018
"Lovely cottage, very clean and well catered for. We had a lovely break in Weymouth"
deborah – 28 May 2018
"Lovely little cottage. Would like to go again.Would have preferred the bathroom upstairs."
Helen – 18 May 2018
"This cottage is indeed 188 years old, and having read the specification carefully before booking we were prepared for the bathroom downstairs off the kitchen, the steep stairs and the parking space down the end of a very narrow lane. The location is very good and it is possible to walk into Weymouth over the fields and along the seashore. The local buses are also very good, and it is not always necessary to struggle to get the car in and out of the parking space as there are other options. Whilst acknowledging that making a judgement about comfort is very subjective, we felt that the mattresses and bed linen were a little tired and past their best (although there was no problem with cleanliness), and we expected better for the price paid in comparison to other holiday rentals that we have stayed in over the years."
Ruth – 23 Mar 2018
"Lovely old cottage, definitely go there again.very cosy and warm. Beds lovely. Great location. Parking a bit of a squeeze, but it wouldn’t put me off going again. Enjoyed biscuits, and treats left by the owner. Pretty old cottage."
David – 16 Mar 2018
"an enjoyable stay - our problem was bathroom on ground floor and parking space not ideal for anything larger than a mini"
beverley – 3 Jan 2018
"We enjoyed our stay at S19953. Would definitely stay their again!"
Jan – 27 Dec 2017
"A lovely cosy cottage we felt instantly at home in. It was a very relaxing break and we had some great local walks with the dog. We will definitely go back again."
Jean – 3 Nov 2017
"Cottage very good in nice place . The only thing wrong was road to cottage very narrow . And the parking space is way to small as tha cootage allows two dog and the parking is no good for a estate car. So which is same."
Maureen – 8 Sep 2017
"This was a charming little cottage. However, the car parking was difficult especially had we had a large car!The road down to the cottage is also extremely narrow in places and turning round at the end was difficult. As we were only in the area to walk a particular part of the coast path it is unlikely that we would go again, but may do."
William – 25 Aug 2017
"Cottage in a quite location. It has a couple of shops quite close for shopping. There are three pubs with in walking distance. There is also a good bus service which are quite cheap to use if you do not fancy driving into Weymouth. The cottage itself is in a quiet location even though the main road is close by. The cottage is clean and tidy with easy access."
Confirmed guest – 4 Aug 2017
"We had a nice week at S19953 but thought it was very expensive (we know we went in school holidays but cost excessive as not really very child friendly with very steep stairs). Very dog friendly which suited us. Parking a problem and no wi-fi. Also can't remember if floor plan shown on website but if you need to get up in the night can be hazardous to get to the bathroom. Basically however we would go again just thought excessively expensive."
William – 23 Jun 2017
"lovely comfy and cosy cottage, all equipment you need and very good location."
Trevor – 9 Jun 2017
"This is a lovely and comfortable cottage - ideal for holidays with a dog.The area is very good for walks plus nearby Weymouth and we would recommend this holiday cottage."
R – 29 May 2017
"Great location. Cosy but small cottage.Positives: private, good kitchen, quiet, close to Weymouth, pub and chip shop nearby, local coop shop as, cosy period feel.Negatives: small parking space at end of narrow lane."
DEBORAH – 12 May 2017
"Fantastic cottage, everything we needed was there from towels to washing up liquid, tea and a pint of milk to a bottle of wine to welcome us. Highly recommended and will be staying there again when we visit Weymouth in the future."
Phillip – 27 Dec 2016
"The owners were very friendly and helpful, we gad a great time and would definitely recommend the cottage.Phill and Amy,London"
Alison
"Just a bit small and access very tight. Rather old fashioned inside but very quaint. Wouldn't stay again but only because we have been there now and want to see other places."
dee
"Lovely cosy warm cottage. Very well equiped. Owners kindly provided milk and biscuits. Easy to use oven, gas fire and central heating. Pretty outdoor space. Lane down to cottage is very narrow so parked car on road which was not a problem. Would recommend."
C
"This is a basic, cute and comfortable cottage. We loved every minute of our stay. Fantastic selection of books and games (although we were too busy exploring the beautiful surroundings to take advantage). The pub just across the main road and the one at the end of the lane were dog friendly and did great bar food. Our dogs loved it too. So many stunning walks right from the door (although we struggled a couple of times to stop them racing through the plants in the garden)! If I were to change anything, it would be to get wifi installed and perhaps a bigger or better placed TV as it was awkward to see from some positions (even with the swivel base). All in all, we ate well, slept well and had a brilliant time. Perfect for dog lovers, couples with small children. So much to see and do and the owner was fabulous too."
michael
"very peaceful spot, close to anything a holiday maker could possibly want. and after two visits we still have lots more to explore."
Sarah
"A delightful cottage retaining the charm of it's 200 years. The owners have ensured it is well equipped and so very clean. Perfect location to relax as it is secluded and extremely quiet but is also an ideal location to explore Weymouth Portland and the surrounding area. The secure garden is perfect if you have dogs with you and there are superb walks all around, the area as a whole is very dog friendly and the 2 pubs on your door step both welcome dogs. We most certainly would visit again."
debbie
"Lovely cosy cottage. Clean and tidy.fab location would to go back."
William
"A great location. Everything was close to hand. Although about 100 yards from a main road it was very quiet you could hear no road traffic. Nice walks got walking the dog."
Norah
"Perfect setting. Peaceful . A healthy walk to both local beaches . Regular bus service. A really cosy cottage . Milk and biscuits on our arrival ... Very welcome ! We would definitely stay here again 😀"
Andrew
"S19953 was very snug and homely, a very beautiful cottage. We felt really at home there at once. The location was good, a short walk through a holiday park from the beach, and a short car ride into Weymouth itself. The cottage was easy to find and parking for our small car was quite easy, but it was still a bit of a tight squeezeThe owner was very friendly and helpful when we contacted him for information about the keys before we arrived. I would stay there again and would readily recommend S19953 to anyone wanting to stay around Weymouth."
Glenys
"Lovely cottage with access to lot of lovely places. Great little garden. Very clean but furnishings would benefit from a little update. Would definitely revisit."
William
"Location attractive bit a real challenge for car parking: the access road abd the parking patch (shared with a walk past right of way, frequently used) too narrow for anything bigger than say a Micra. Our Audi A1 was a very tight squeeze. The cottage was attracive but dark inside and the outside (sunny) had only hard wooden seats. Also the stairs are very steep and a hazard for anyone over 60."
Denis
"Furniture and beds uncomfortable, nowhere to park, had to park the car at a local pub. Accommodation a little cramped and stairs very steep."
Valerie
"Sweet little cottage, very clean, well equipped. Near to shop, Chippy, pubs (all dog friendly in the bar) quiet location."
Confirmed guest
"Had a lovely relaxing long walking weekend with the dog. He loved it, so much beach to walk along and new sights and smells. Would love to visit again but so many cottages in so many places the choice is almost endless. For us, this was a good choice."
William
"The cottage was very clean. The main bedroom was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The walks to Sutton Pontz was good and a good pub at the end. There were other pubs to use and a very good fish and chip shop called Straceys. Weymouth is close and plenty to do. Also a dog friendly beach."
Patricia
"A really lovely cottage which is wonderfully situated having the convenience of shop, chippy and pubs. Put the following to right and it would be idyllic. It is overly equipped, so dirty crocks and glasses had been put at the bottom of the pile or pushed to the back of the cupboard and obviously not washed between visitors. It was far too cluttered to be cleaned thoroughly. The towels were old. Carpet is not the ideal floor covering for dogs, it was badly stained upstairs and down and the disinfectant that had been sprayed before we arrived did not disguise the sickening smell."
avril
"the location was superb, parking was the only issue as it was so small and tight (we had a ford focus) we would go again ."
Liz
"Lovely cottage, good position, we all loved it and so did the dogs :)"
Karen
"We love the location, and the cottage if planning future holiday in the area would definitely book again"
stephen
"We know dogs are allowed in the cottage but the 2 sofas smelt of dogs and the carpet was very dirty, perhaps 2 cheap leather sofas and wooden floors would be better, and please note there is no parking for your car at the cottage so I think it is a bit misleading to say a small car would fit, I cant think of any car that would fit the space and still leave room for a wheelchair to pass as your sign. But I must say the landlord at the pub was very helpful and allowed us to park there. Overall very disappointed."
peter
"The cottage hot water stopped working for a number of days. I also think the advert on the web site states that there is a washer/dryer which is not true. There is no washing line and no where to dry clothes. The mattress in the main bedroom is well past it's best.On the good side it is well placed and would suit a couple rather than a foursome."
Barrie
"Very nice clean cottage in a lovely village close to the sea. Good dinning pubs at either end of the lane.No traffic noise was a bonus due to its location. Parking space is for a small car only so we parked else ware in the village."
stephen
"We liked the cottage. The modern touches to an old cottage have made it very comfortable"
Val
"We travelled down by train so weren't bothered that the car parking space was very small. The cottage was cosy and ideal as a base to explore the lovely countryside both on foot and by public transport. I would recommend it to visitors with or without dogs. Weymouth is a dog friendly area."
Julie
"Nice cosy little cottage everything thing you need for self-catering holiday their are books games puzzles DVDs but only a small parking space we park at the bridge lnn pub we okayed this with the landlord and only one minute away from cottage"
Allan
"Enjoyed our short break, good dog friendly pubs close to cottage"
Lynne
"The cottage itself was ok however, the bathroom was downstairs, (didnt know this from details) also parking was a nightmare!! The parking spot was onlybig enough for a very small car. "
Robert
"Very cosy and warm cottage. Extremely helpful owner."
Zara
"A lovely little cottage in a wonderful location."
Claire
"We had a lovely weekend in this beautiful characterful cottage . It felt like we were living in someones home rather than an anonymous holiday home. Very well equipped and very warm . I was worried that it might be cold but it was almost too hot . Great area for walking in the hills , and I saw 4 deer early one morning but no other human . Lovely place ."
Confirmed guest
"Great little cottage which had all we needed- well equipped , good info etc . Milk , tea, coffee and biscuits a surprise bonus!External door mats were sopping wet and would be better replaced with plastic to metal draining ones! A hose would have been useful to wash muddy dogs"
stephen
"very nice cottage and well equiped good location near to shop and pubs also handy for buses to weymouth lots of walks for dogs."
michael
"a quiet location but close to a good pub and shop. On the outskirts of Weymouth and close to Portland and Chesil beach we found it ideal for our needs and the locals were friendly."
Peter
"Cottage in very convenient location for local amenities (shops/pubs/take-aways/transport). Quiet situation. Well equipped (though toaster only does one side of each slice at a time :) ). I found it more convenient to park on the nearby road(s) as parking 'space' too small, even for my Ford Fiesta."
Sheila
"Lovely little cottage and great location. Unfortunately neither the grill or the toaster worked properly but left a note for the owners so they would know. Other than that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and such a quaint, old-fashioned little place. Very warm and cosy. Great for walking into Weymouth and the surrounding areas."
Karen
"We loved our holiday, location deserves more than 10, we have rebooked for next year."
William
"The cottage is in an ideal place. It was so quiet yet only about a 100yards from the main Preston Road. It was convient for the buses and local shops and pubs."
Previous guest
"Lovely location; owners had decorated the cottage for Christmas. Nice touches with a bottle of wine, chocs, tea and biscuits. Well equipped cottage including towels, tea towels - the list is endless. A real home from home. Parking not great as our car too large to leave in the space, so had to leave near by. Special mention for the Spice Ship pub - very friendly - and happy to have our dog there. We had our Christmas day dinner there - nothing too much trouble. Remember to take a torch as it is not well lit on the way to the cottage. A great place to stay - would recommend and would stay again. Owners even rang us when we got home to check all was ok. Dec 2012."
Previous guest
"We didn’t have a pen so couldn’t leave a comment in the Visitor’s Book! However, had a great holiday in a lovely, cosy cottage. Everything was perfect and it was no bother having to park a little bit away from the cottage owing to the fact that our car was too big for the car parking space. We had two dogs with us who had a fab time and small stream just a stroll away enabled us to wash of mucky doggies from country walks before coming back to the cottage. Had two great meals in the very friendly local pub that has just re-opened (by the duck pond and willow trees, can’t remember the name of it now). Location of the cottage to the beach, Weymouth and tons of Dorset attractions perfect. Have already recommended the cottage to several friends. Thank you. Nov 2012."

"A pretty cottage tucked away down a quiet lane yet within easy reach of great pubs and fantastic Coastal walks. Owners were very helpful and welcoming and happily welcomed our two house cats! "Second trip to S19953. Cold weather lovely snug and warm cottage. Everything necessary for a happy vacation. Parking difficult but found a place in Verland Avenue off Sutton Road which was quiet and there was always plenty of space. Nearby pubs welcomed our two dogs so we were able to have meals out when we wanted to. Will go again. Feb 2012."
