There are numerous walks available from the house, including the summit of Skiddaw for the adventurous, or a gentle lakeside stroll alongside Bassenthwaite Lake.
S80563 is ideally located a 15-minute drive from the tourist town of Keswick, with a theatre, cinema, twice weekly market and many restaurants, cafes and pubs. 15 minutes in the other direction is Cockermouth, the oldest town in Cumbria, where you will find Wordsworth House and Garden (National Trust), Jennings Brewery and a wide range of independent shops.
The Sun Inn, serving a variety of food and local beers, is a two minute walk from the cottage and it is a short drive to the Lakes Distillery, well known for its tours and bistro. Shop on campsite (seasonal) ½ mile, pub/restaurant 220 yards.
