"A lovely cottage but a long slow journey into northern Lakes area.Lovely farmhouse kitchen and plenty of space throughout. Some refurbishment of the cottage would be advisable. The back garden is enclosed but with a low wall which one of our dogs managed to jump over. That needs to be made clear to guests. The beds were a bit hard 🙁"

"Very spacious, large secure garden, pub was fully booked for food even though no one was eating, shop is small, easy access to the northern lakes which was great, dishwasher does need attention, this is a great house, but needs some TLC in the cleaning department. Would stay again! No starter pack for the fire, but heating was more than enough."
    Peter – 22 Sep 2018
"The owners have clearly spent a lot of time and money renovating the cottages but it does feel like they would now benefit from some maintenance. The exterior is starting to look rather tatty and internally it feels like a really thorough clean up or re-decoration would help. The cottage was generally clean but not to the standard we have experienced at other cottagesWe also had a few other issues: The seal on the dishwasher door fell off, so every time we used the dishwasher we had to refit the seal. Storm Ali arrived while we were there and a roof tile came off, I'm sure that the cleaners will have noticed this. The central heating instructions are not clear at all, if the weather had been cold we would have frozenHad real problems with the wood burner, not sure whether this was down to the logs that were left or a maintenance issue. Given our problems with the heating this could have been a problem"

"We had a lovely week in Hesket Newmarket, it's a nice village with a well-stocked local shop and a pub. The house is full of character, although it could do with some upkeep here and there. The dishwasher is helpful, although there isn't quite enough crockery. There also aren't any bolts on the back door. Having said this, the cottage was homely and it was much more spacious than we were expecting, it was also perfectly suited for bringing our dog on holiday."
    Ruth – 14 Apr 2018
"Lovely cottage in a great village. One or two hitches with the kitchen equipment ( beware of dishwasher seal; oven door doesn't close easily, no decent chopping knives....) and no information about recycling. The TV was impossible to watch but that wasn't a bad thing! The cottage was comfortable and cosy. Nice garden. The walk to the meeting of the waters was perfect for the dogs. The walk to Caldbeck, and beyond to the bigger fells was ideal from the cottage door. Great pub with good food."
    Amands – 7 Apr 2018
"We had a fabulous time and the cottage provided us with all that we needed."
    Katherine – 4 Apr 2018
