Set against the spectacular backdrop of Blencathra, with two pubs within walking distance and direct access onto the Skiddaw fell range.
Nestling into the slopes of Blencathra, this property really does enjoy a most impressive location in a tranquil, elevated position with stunning views to St John’s in the Vale, Castle Rock and Clough Head. As the name suggests, the accommodation is an apartment on the first floor of a converted barn, adjoining the main farmhouse. There are many walking opportunities from the doorstep with direct access on to Blencathra and footpaths to Skiddaw and Latrigg. The village of Threlkeld, which has a wonderful coffee shop/theatre/cinema/concert hall, as well as two pubs each serving good food and real ale, are a 10-minute walk along the footpath. Despite the accommodation being on the first floor, the access is via a barn door at ground level to the rear, as the house is built into the slope of Blencathra. Once inside the accommodation is all on one level with an open plan living space with a cosy wood burner, a spacious double bedroom with lots of storage and an en-suite shower room with two wash basins and fantastic views! The vibrant tourist town of Keswick is only 4 miles away and has a wealth of amenities. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 800 yards.

"Lovely place to stay. Very well equipped, very homely and comfortable. Great position for exploring the Lake District. Great local pub. The views from the cottage are amazing with plenty of wildlife to watch. We had a lovely week there."

"We had a lovely time, the weather was good, a tad colder than we have been enjoying down on the south coast, but we expect that!The barn itself was cosy, especially when we had the wood burner alight on a couple of colder days. Good size bedroom, with an amazing array of cupboard/drawer/wardrobe space, same goes with the bathroom.Thank you for the complimentary basket of goodies and the basket wood, only got to use half of both! We may well return someday.Although the kitchen area is fairly well equipped, the food prep and carving knives could do with sharpening - as found in the drawer, didn't notice the ones in the block until packing up to leave!Glad we packed a couple of our own that we used, from experience of any self catering we have never found knives supplied sharp or indeed a decent sharpener!It was really good to have a decent size fridge, also a separate freezer."

"Beautiful location with spectacular views. Barn well equipped and warm. Lovely comfortable bed. Shower not very powerful but adequate. Slightly longer than 800yd walk to the nearest pub but not an issue although it is a steep walk back so perhaps not suitable for everyone. If you are walking back in the dark don't forget a torch."

"S71956is a super holiday let for 2 people. Well equipped, clean, warm, loads of hot water, and a comfortable bed. Views are just amazing both front and back - not much in the way of "local amenities", but tbh, nothing else was needed. Except maybe an update to the sofa - that's a bit tired - and some comfortable patio furniture is needed. Fantastic cafe in the village, really friendly people wherever you go and super views. Oh - and a fab log burner, one of the best we've come across! We will most definitely book S71956again, fantastic holiday there."

"Excellent cottage in wonderful location with outstanding views. Good base for walking and touring the Northern lakes. Walks straight from the cottage. Good local Inns and café, Keswick with all facilities nearby.Well equipped and furnished, warm and plentiful hot water.Perfectly cleaned and well presented but some doubts around maintenance. Recycling had not been cleared from the front porch for some time, broken blind in bathroom, drain plug not working in bidet and three lights not working"

"With past s/c holidays we have become accustomed to a warm welcome from owners. Not so with Blease Barn. It was cold on arrival (although the heating did come on later it took a while for the rooms to warm up) and our welcome pack comprised a bar of mint cake and a single bottle of beer. Lighting was desperately outdated and poor, shower cubicle was so small and barely adequate and yet there were two wash hand basins. With a bit more care this property could be superb .. wonderful location, great views and good pub nearby etc."
