Ambleside can be reached within 10 minutes walk through the park. Previously the vicarage to Ambleside, the access to the property is by way of electric gates and along a steep, private drive found almost opposite the stepping stones at the entrance to Rothay Park. Walks to Loughrigg Fell, Todd Crag, Grasmere and Rydal can be enjoyed from the doorstep or why not simply enjoy the beautiful 10 acres of mature grounds enabling you to sample woodland walks and a host of flora and fauna such as specimen trees, shrubs, red and grey squirrels and deer. An all weather tennis court is also available to guests so don’t forget your racket.

"Beautiful accommodation, very modern, spacious and comfortable, with parking. You can walk to the town of Ambleside in a few minutes. Sky TV was included and we had a good view of the Fairfield Horseshoe from our apartment. Very highly recommended."

"Both showers had problems.The en suite shower door would not shut. Too stiff and it did not fit.Second shower, water cascaded over and under the screen.Hence bath only used."

"S84525 is the perfect place if you want somewhere quiet but close to the facilities of Ambleside and the surrounding area. There are lovely walks starting from the grounds. The weather was really hot when I stayed but I found the apartment stayed pleasantly cool. The views of the Fairfield Horseshoe were great and the apartment was well equipped and comfortable. I would love to stay again."

"We had a most pleasant stay in S84525. Peaceful and quiet at nights with the ability to make the bedrooms dark for comfortable sleep. Spacious lounge with superb views. Would recommend to my friends looking for a base in the Lakes. Stroll into Ambleside was pleasant.It would have been interesting to have had a potted history of the house to read and perhaps more info on local places to eat out.Great weather so couldn't have been better."

"This apartment is in a wonderful location for its close proximity to all that Ambleside has to offer. It is set in lovely grounds and has splendid views of the hills. We would not have wanted to stay here had it been warmer weather as the windows only opened a few inches. We were disappointed with certain aspects of this apartment, some of which could be rectified with updating and correction of various minor faults."

"This was our second visit to the property and we had another thoroughly enjoyable visit. Walking up the steep lengthy drive continues to be excellent exercise albeit challenging (!) A bench has thoughtfully been placed at the halfway point. We were fortunate one evening to see two deer within in the grounds. The apartment has such fantastic views from all the windows that one can't help but relax whatever the weather, which in Cumbria could be anything. The apartment itself is very well equipped and well heated. A short-ish walk through the park soon helpfully comes out into the centre of the village."

"Just the thing for a winter week at a good winter discounted price. Chose it above all for the location in the countryside but a short walk to Ambleside so the four of us could shop or walk or pop in for a beer as we wished without all having to do the same thing together all the time. Great walk up on to Loughrigg where you can ramble around. Flat was comfortable and warm though ran low on hot water when all four had a go."

"The weather was disappointing ( well, it was November ! ) but the accommodation was excellent - warm, comfortable, well-equipped and a great situation - just out of the town, but an easy 10 minute walk into the town centre.One of the best self-catering breaks that we have had in recent years."

"This is our second visit. It is a lovely flat in an excellent location. However, this time we felt that some aspects need refurbishment. For example, the coating on the non-stick frying pans had been damaged and they were unusable. The washbasin taps also need attention; the bathroom fan was very noisy and there were other minor irritants.We were also not given the code to the lift.These are little things that could easily be put right, and we hope they are fixed next time we come!"

"This is the second time we have stayed at this cottage. Really enjoyed the stay and the local amenities. The only concerns were the cleanliness of the apartment - under the beds, stains on the duvet and smell of urine in the main bathroom."

"This was our fourth stay in this lovely apartment. The location is superb. I had to ask for a broken tap in the master bedroom to be fixed on our arrival on Friday. This was eventually done on the following Wednesday. Also, I had to clean the bathrooms properly and get rid of cobwebs around the fixed cupboards over the bed in the master room. The bedding had a strong smell of fabric conditioner which was hard to ignore. The bedding sheets and pillowcases are in need of an upgrade to cotton at the least. The food we put in the fridge froze in the main compartment. This is a very nice apartment which has been allowed to run down. I hope that all these issues are addressed."

"A lovely light, spacious and well-equipped apartment in an imposing building in it's own grounds on the outskirts of Ambleside. We saw deer and red squirrels in the gardens, and there is plenty of walking on the doorstep. All the amenities you could want are a short stroll away, with a huge choice of restaurants in Ambleside. A couple of minor quibbles, as non-dishwasher owners we didn't take tablets with us and had to buy a large expensive pack (we left them for the next guests!) as washing-up for 4 plus a toddler isn't feasible in the very small kitchen sink. A small provision of just enough to last us the week would have been appreciated. Also a shelf or cabinet in the bathroom for toiletries would be useful. All in all, though, we were very comfortable and had a fantastic week's holiday, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone."

"Very comfortable clean apartment with good quality fittings ..Would be pleased to return although we do prefer private out door space so maybe consider one of the other apartments in the building..The kitchen equipment was 1st class apart from the fry pans needed replacing . "We have stayed at this apartment before and were most impressed. Several years later it is still excellent.Beautiful private grounds, deer visit now and again. Sky sports TV, 2 bathrooms, excellent heating system, comfortable beds and great views from windows. All in all, an excellent apartment."

"The apartment is just as lovely as ever and we have stayed many times as the location is perfect just outside Ambleside with all its amenities togther with direct access to the fells beyond. Some of the decor is looking very tired - please consider a change to the bedlinen in the master bedroom. Pleated nylon and polyester duvet cover and pillowcases is so uncomfortable and the same bedlinen has been used for at least the last 8 years to our knowledge. Surely a 5* property should reflect modern 21st century living."

"We arrived late in the dark. It was pitch black, being October, so we saw nothing of the surroundings whatsoever. Not sure if the lights on the posts on the steep drive were supposed to be lit. Luckily we had thought to take a torch for going out at night (very necessary in the winter months) so were able to walk safely from the car park to the entrance with our luggage. The next morning what a wonderful surprise to see the sun on the top of the mountain outside the lounge window. The apartment was a delight, cosy, well furnished and equipped with everything we needed. Excellent views from all rooms. As I said the drive is steep, but a good cardio vascular exercise coming up! Saw some deer twice on our return in daylight. Lovely walks close by which we were able to take advantage of without using the car. What a treat."
