Excellent Bowness-on-Windermere Cottage sleeping up to 4 guests

In an idyllic setting and surrounded by rolling hills and the glorious unspoilt countryside of The Gilpin Valley, Low Shepherd Yeat offers a selection of delightful refurbished properties on this former farm and can be enjoyed together or individually.
Shepherd Yeat End Cottage (ref UKC2940), has been refurbished with careful attention to detail to retain the charm and character of this delightful former farm cottage. The property will suit couples, smaller families and friends looking for a comfortable, well equipped cottage in picturesque surroundings. The well presented living room is enhanced by a wood burner, perfect for those cooler evenings when snuggling in front of the fire is the ideal way to end a day’s walking. French doors open onto the spacious veranda area wrapping two elevations of the cottage and allowing guests the opportunity to make the most of sunnier days. Glorious countryside views can be enjoyed from this elevated position – a delightful spot to enjoy breakfast al fresco or perhaps a chilled glass of wine at the end of the day.
Converted in Spring 2018 to offer ground floor accommodation for four guests in this picturesque spot, S96794 (ref UKC3085) has been carefully designed to make the most of countryside views from the comfort of this well-presented and stylish property. The generous open plan living space creates a delightful area for guests to enjoy relaxing time together. Well presented, its comfortable bedrooms are enhanced by full-height ceilings and countryside views from the master bedroom.
Low Shepherd Yeat Farm (ref LK3) is a superb, detached former farmhouse with a large, picture window and pretty countryside views. Extensively refurbished and redecorated, it is perfect for families or groups of friends looking for space, comfort and well equipped accommodation. The well-presented living space includes a delightful dining conservatory overlooking the garden and fields beyond. The double bedrooms are comfortable and enjoy private bathroom facilities. Its own games room offers in house recreation for all whilst its private hot tub is perfectly placed to enjoy the surrounding views.
Sitting in 25 acres of picturesque countryside, Low Shepherd Yeat enjoys its own stretch of the River Gilpin with a stone bridge over the river. There are beautiful walks and cycle paths from the door, whilst the Lake District Fells such as The Langdale Pikes and the Old Man of Coniston are a short drive. Only 4½ miles from Lake Windermere and Bowness with boutiques, galleries, tea rooms, pubs, water sports and ferries to Hawkshead, Coniston and the Grizedale Forest. Cruisers at Bowness offer trips round the lake taking in the wonderful scenery, calling at Ambleside to the north or Lakeside to the south to visit the fascinating Aquarium of the Lakes. Historic houses with lovely grounds such as Holker Hall and Sizergh Castle are nearby; don’t miss Muncaster Castle or the South Lakes Wild Animal Park at Dalton.
Beatrix Potter, Wordsworth and other famous authors found the Lake District truly inspirational and there are many locations where their history and works are interestingly displayed. Nearby, the historic market town of Kendal has an art gallery, castle, theatre, larger shops and pretty walks along the River Kent. Whichever direction you walk or drive in this most beautiful area will bring you to breathtaking views of the lakes and mountains. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

"This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful location. The mile long single lane track to the cottage is a bit of a nuisance but otherwise the peace and quiet of the farm is great. Inside the cottage is lovely and modern but it was freezing cold on arrival as the electric radiators are not very efficient and there were no complimentary logs to put on the wood burner which we felt was pretty mean considering we did not arrive until late and could not go back out again to buy some. Make sure you take a bagof logs plus lighters with you! (For the rental price surely it is not too much to expect to leave some logs for each guest.....). The cottage is very clean and comfortable with a luxurious bathroom, however, this is let down by the cheap electric non-power shower they have fitted...The glass frontage to the cottage is lovely in the day but at night there are no blinds so you have no privacy in the living and kitchen area if anyone from the cottage next door decides to walk past. Apart from that, it is nice and we had a good week with some lovely pubs nearby. The Punch Bowl Inn served high class food and the Brown Labrador was good quality pub grub."

"The place was excellent and at a great location and very comfortable place to stay"

"It is essential that a declaration is made when marketing S96794 to explain that the 1-mile road leading to the property is an extremely narrow, undulating, single-track (6ft 6inch) road with blind corners and very few token-gesture passing places. Meeting any oncoming vehicle was a case of negotiating which driver would find it easier to reverse, in the majority of cases a considerable distance, in order to safely pass. Vehicles encountered during our stay included several farmers with trailers carrying livestock and on one occasion the local refuse lorry. This is not a complaint, merely an honest observation to ensure total awareness of the position when booking. We found ourselves as very confident drivers, compromised with an expensive ‘large’ car, having to calculate and plan our journeys carefully to limit as much as possible the number of times to enter or leave the bungalow’s very rural position."

"Lovely place to stay. The kids loved the fact that there were sheep in the fields surrounding the cottage. Would have preferred beds that were not on castors, as the beds moved a little too easily on the hard floor."

Julian – 6 Jul 2018
"This was a very comfortable and well appointed property in a lovely location. We enjoyed great days in the surrounding lake district, walking, swimming and excellent food from a nearby farmshop and pub. It was good to come back to the bungalow and relax."

"It was really wonderful thank you so much"
