Quaint Cartmel Cottage sleeping up to 4 guests

S59725 is situated in the peaceful South Lakeland hamlet of Staveley-in-Cartmel, just a stone’s throw away from Windermere and the National Trust park and gardens, Fellfoot. A former Besom store, this traditional whitewashed cottage is perfectly positioned to explore the popular Lakeland villages of Ambleside, Grasmere, Coniston and Keswick, as well as the quieter corners and beaches of the South Lakeland Peninsulas and West Lakes including, Grange-over-Sands, Cartmel and Arnside.

Just a short walk from S59725 is Gummers Howe, one of the Lake District’s top ten picturesque picnic spots, whilst a host of woodland walks and cycle tracks lead directly from the cottage up into the surrounding fells to offer stunning panoramic views. The nearby, quaint market town of Ulverston, teeming with eclectic, independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants and with entertainment for all ages, is only 4 miles away by car. There are also days out at the Lakeside Aquarium, traditional steam train experience at Lakeside and Haverthwaite, and the popular South Lakeland Zoo which are also just a short drive away.

After a busy day splashing on the water in boats, hiking over the fells or cycling through Grizedale Forest, snuggle up by the fire and enjoy a cup of cocoa at S59725, or head out to the lovely pub close by for a sumptuous meal and drinks on the banks of the River Leven. Valerie – 12 Nov 2018
"S59725 is great for a quiet relaxing break and in a good location for a drive to other Lake district locations. The only downside was we thought the cottage needed a deep clean and the carpets made the cottage feel dark."
Carl – 2 Nov 2018
"Lovely quaint cottage with stunning views, easy access to all local areas would definitely recommend to others."
ANGELA – 26 Oct 2018
"A lovely stay in a very quiet cottage in an ideal location. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. Ideal for Lake Windermere and for exploring nearby and further afield."
Susan – 19 Oct 2018
"Beautiful, very clean and nicely decorated cottage in quaint little village, walking distance to park for the kids to play (makes up for no garden) but not a trip they could make themselves. Well placed for visiting local attractions (by car)Only disappointment was the local pub was not in walking distance, certainly not on a safe route with or without the kids and this was one of our criteria so a little disappointed. However I would stay again and enjoyed it very much, maybe advert just needs to make suitability of the road for walking a bit clearer."
Darren – 4 Oct 2018
"Fantastic cottage, cosy, comfortable and warm. Ideally located for both Windermere and Coniston, wish we’d booked for two weeks as we couldn’t get a quarter of the things done we wanted to do. Will definitely be back, many thanks."
Steven – 21 Sep 2018
"Great location , just far enough out from major and busy locations but still easy to access them all , very quiet and relaxing ."
Jean – 14 Sep 2018
"It was a comfy cottage although lacking some equipment and essentials such as black rubbish bags. The parking was OK as long as there was no other car parked outside as the street was very narrow."
Angela – 3 Sep 2018
"Really enjoyed our stay. Shame no garden or parking but otherwise perfect"
Janice – 22 Jun 2018
"We loved S59725 (retired couple) and its charming rural location in a small hamlet. The size, character and layout suited us perfectly. It was in an ideal location, close (by car) to all the lakes and places of interest we were keen to visit. It would have scored a ten if there'd been a pub and little grocer's within walking distance. Booth's (excellent high quality supermarket on a par with Waitrose) was a drive away on the outskirts of Ulverston. The Swan, a pub with an extensive menu, was considerably nearer, but still warranted a drive in the car for us. Parking in the narrow lane was rather tight for a large car. The passenger had to get out so the driver could pull in close to the hedge, brushing against it. However, we soon adapted to the situation and eagerly explored the stunning scenery and little villages around The Lakes. The homes of Beatrix Potter, Wordsworth and John Ruskin were highlights as were Hawkshead, Keswick and Ambleside. We'd love to return to S59725 and would recommend it to anyone who is planning a visit to The Lake District."
Emma – 26 Mar 2018
"We had a fabulous few days at S59725. The cottage was well equipped , lovely and cosy and in a good position for walks . Excellent hotels near by for fab food . We were also lucky with the weather. Our dogs enjoyed it too, our only wish would have been a garden but we booked the cottage knowing there wasn’t one . Excellent value for money."
John – 23 Oct 2017
"Great location and lovely cottage"
Deborah – 17 Oct 2017
"S59725 was lovely and would stay there again. Shame there was not a garden for the dog and parking was a bit dangerous on the road especially with tractors etc thundering past. Facilities were great, might want to mention shower was not very high especially for someone who is 6ft 5! Other than this had a lovely time"
Mandy – 11 Aug 2017
"although the cottage itself was beautiful & was in a great location there were some issues one of which was reported and not much of a reply! would go back to the area but would not stay in S59725 again"
Confirmed guest – 4 Aug 2017
"We thoroughly enjoyed our time at S59725. Fantastic location, tucked peacefully out of the way but with excellent links to the whole Lakes region. The cottage was spacious, clean and well equipped. We would definitely recommend and would consider returning another time."
JOANNE – 10 Jul 2017
"Nice little cottage. Suffers with damp though. Kitchen table too small and a few things could have been provided like dishcloths, laundry detergent and bin liners. Lack of outside seating area was a real drawback for us but if you don't mind that it's a nice place to stay. Very comfy leather suite in lounge of much higher quality than most holiday rentals."
Paula – 16 Jun 2017
"Lovely cottage but shower cubicle on the small side. fortunately neither of us were of tall or stocky build. Fantastic area and very picturesque. Will certainly visit the lakes again but maybe further north."
Sue – 8 May 2017
"Well equiped, cosy cottage in easily accessible, gorgeous location. Extremely comfortable beds.Would highly recommend."
Yael – 5 May 2017
"for the benefit of those that arrive very late, or from abroad, it would have been nice to fine some groceries, i.e. instant coffee, sugar, milk, just to get us started."
Lally – 28 Apr 2017
"The location was very good - walks from the cottage and plenty of attractions within easy range. It was also quiet and warm. The kitchen was rather underequipped and the TV had relatively few channels, but in general the accommodation was fine for 2 adults. Parking was a bit of a problem in a narrow lane and we missed having any outdoor space (other than a bench in the lane)."
Jessica – 9 Mar 2017
"A beautiful location with truly amazing views and great local walks. Everything that we needed had been made easily available, the only thing that we found difficult was to find a local shop other than the garage/ to find a local takeaway. This is of no fault of the cottage or location and was to be expected as part of our countryside break."
Johan – 23 Jan 2017
"Only stayed two nights then booked into the NB Hotel. Shower was so bad we couldn't was the baby. The Electric Heating just dried the air still leaving the room cold. Toilet didn't flush properly, no mobile signal and no internet."

"Extremely comfortable and cosy would definitely visit again!"

"We had a lovely time. We loved that the cottage was in a quiet village but close to many large towns. The views were breathtaking. The cottage was charming, well supplied."
Jemma
"A nice cottage in a lovely location. Great for dogs too!I would say it's marketed slightly wrongly by describing it as 'luxury', but it is a nice holiday home and is certainly well worth the money paid. Just not quite the 'hidden gem' we were led to expect. It would have been nice to have a little more info pre-arrival on what is at the cottage and on arrival about what is around. More cutlery would help too! The level of cleanliness in general is good but feels like it needs a deep clean rather than a 'surface' one, surprising as this has only just been refurbished. Didn't really want to put my clothes in the draws, there is mould between the tiles in the bathroom and the washing machine was filthy, like someone had washed their shoes in it!All in all i'd say go for it, just don't expect luxury."
Viv
"Really lovely cottage. Upside: Great location. You can walk through the pretty village to lake Windermere. Comfortable bed. Lovely space inside the cottage. Great base to explore everywhere in the lakes. Heating heats up cottage very quickly. Downside: No wifi. No parking space. Roadside parking space on narrow lane. No garden for the dogs. The shower unit is very small."
Clive
"The cottage was very nice, great location very quiet. Plenty room indoors. I found the beds a little firm for me. There isn't any wifi and we couldn't get the washing machine to work."
