HIGH CROFT FARMHOUSE sleeping up to 10 guests

A superb detached holiday home with pretty countryside views, this former farmhouse provides an idyllic location in the village of Crook. The farmhouse offers spacious holiday accommodation with ample parking. Surrounded by splendid fells, footpaths and country lanes with plenty of country pubs close by. The nearby historic market town of Kendal has an art gallery, castle, theatre and larger shops as well as pretty walks along the River Kent. Whichever direction you walk or drive in this most beautiful area will bring you to breathtaking views of the lakes and mountains. There are beautiful walks and cycle paths from the door, whilst for the more energetic the challenge of the Lake District Fells such as The Langdale Pikes and the Old Man of Coniston are a short drive away. Only 4 miles from Lake Windermere and Bowness, with boutiques, galleries, tea rooms, pubs, water sports and ferries to Hawkshead, Coniston and the Grizedale Forest. The cruisers at Bowness offer trips round Lake Windermere, a more leisurely way to enjoy the wonderful scenery, calling at Ambleside to the north or Lakeside to the south to visit the fascinating Aquarium of the Lakes. Historic houses with lovely grounds such as Holker Hall and Sizergh Castle are nearby, whilst a day out to Muncaster Castle or the South Lakes Wild Animal Park at Dalton are not to be missed. Beatrix Potter, Wordsworth and other famous authors found the Lake District truly inspirational and there are many locations where their history and works are interestingly displayed. "This property has been recently added - customer comments will appear here soon."
"DO NOT BOOK AT THIS TIME. We have stayed at Highcroft before and decided to come back as it suited our groups needs. Sadly on arrival it was clear ot hadn't been cleaned or prepped. We eventually got some excuse about an email being sent to cottages4you by the owner stating it was uninhabitable which had never been received. The house also appeared to be for sale with regular viewings. It was great the first time. A disapoointment this time. Luckily the caravan park next door offered us good quality alternative accom."
"We had a fantastic time once all sorted."
"We were very disappointed with this house. We noticed that this property is up for sale by Auction. We felt it had been neglected in recent times. The kitchen was well equipped with crockery and cutlery. However the oven door did not close properly and had to be wedged shut to work. The downstairs shower room and toilet were unusable due to the smell emanating from the shower drain which seemed blocked. The downstairs bathroom and toilet also appear to have some plumbing problems as the toilet and bath gurgle when the water drains away. The bedrooms were adequate and the beds and bedding both warm and comfortable. The en suite shower room would have benefited from a mirror in order to use the shaving socket. The en suite bathroom had mould on the shower curtain. The house was cold as the radiators were not overly hot and the aga which controlled the central heating was not working. (the oil gauge was showing empty) This was not ideal as we had three small children and a baby in our party. The utility room had at least 2/3 weeks of dirty bedlinen and towels on the floor. There was also no visitor book for comments, I wonder why?"
    "Nice spacious place to stay."
"Cottage was huge so we had more than enough room for us all and the beds, chairs, etc were really comfy. The facilities available were nice but not perfect but those things didn't affect our stay. The only major issue was the main road next to the cottage is very busy. Not a problem at night so slept perfectly in the really comfy bed but definitely wouldn't attempt to go for walks down it with the dogs or kids. It is worth also noting that there is no WiFi or phone signal here which can be a big bonus if you want to escape it all. If you still need access to the net there are a few really nice pubs in a short drive. The gateway had an amazing landlord and the pub was very kid and dog friendly."
"A lovely, comfortable house with fantastic views."
"Very nice cottage, noise from road can be distracting."
