"Lovely quirky cottage. Perfect for me and my little girl. Stunning views and host was lovely giving courtesy before and during our stay to ensure our stay went smoothly. Great location just quick hop in the car and back onto main road in lakes to take you anywhere you desire. Cottage was clean, tidy and well equipped with everything you could need."
DAVID – 8 Oct 2018
"Great place as long as you are completely mobile - very difficult steps both inside and out for young and old."
Elaine – 27 Sep 2018
"We thoroughly enjoyed our second visit to S18589. Beautiful location, well maintained and very comfortable."
Elly – 3 Sep 2018
"My Mum and I absolutely loved our stay in S18589.Everything we needed was there. All cooking utensils, saucepan and serving things were all there. Logs for the fire are provided and lasted us for 3 nights. The beds were comfortable and the showers hot and strong! All was very clean and fresh. The outdoor space is perfect and the views stunning. There is a large shopping centre about 15mins away and a few great pubs a short drive away. Saw many taxis around if these were needed.I can't recommend this place enough and will definitely be returning!"

"We had a brilliant time in the lakes (as usual), but it was made all the more this time round thanks to our stay at Kate’s Cottage. We found the cottage to more than meet our needs during our stay. It was warm, clean and had everything you could possibly require for a family of four and a small dog. Spacious gardens with a stunning view, WiFi, 2 bathrooms, a real log fire and arguably the comfiest beds in the whole of Cumbria are just a few of the reasons to stay. The only downside is the lack of local amenities. Although not completely remote, Kate’s Cottage is a good few miles from the nearest shop. If you forget something while out getting supplies you either have to start the car up again or do without. Aside from this, it’s brilliant."

"We holiday in cottages at least 4 times a year and have done for the last 20 years. This cottage was the worst by far that we have ever used. The whole property is in desperate need of attention. Every item in the place was dirty we had to clean things before we used them, the microwave, the kettle the door handles, the stair banister, the TV and controls, the CD player the list is endless, all were dirty with weeks of grim and filthy. The sofas were covered in dog hair, the shower was disgusting and didn’t work properly, the bathroom was... well we didn’t even use it. The fridge was disgusting, the freezer was frozen up.The oven works when it feels like it. The smell from the dishwasher was unbearable so we didn’t use it. The parking is awkward the roadside parking would only be suitable for a small car. The garden while having a nice view was mostly just overgrown, the lawn had been cut. We had to go and buy a relaxer chair as the chairs provided are threadbare. The patio and steps are dangerous and uneven not recommended for children or the elderly. Our house was have some work done otherwise we would have returned home. The final straw was our old dog picking up a flea infestation,we complained, cottages.com were very good about our complaints but couldn’t offer other accommodation as our dog would have transferred fleas to the next property. We did get a price reduction from the owner which didn’t even cover the vets bill.If you are looking for a holiday with difference this cottage is for you, if your after a relaxing strees free break well....To finish on a bright note. The bed was comfy."

"Overall, we found S18589 to be an excellent option when visiting the Lakes. It was a bit dated but very comfortable, quiet with excellent facilities and and beautiful views."
Lisa – 7 May 2018

"Directions need to be clearer, we followed our Sat Nav using a postcode given and we were nowhere near the cottage.Parking is not very easy at the cottage. The cottage itself was grubby and we felt that it could do with some TLC and redocorating especially in the downstairs rooms, the upstairs bedrooms were nice."
Rachel – 30 Mar 2018
"Our 3rd stay in this beautiful cottage .Stunning garden views and sunsets are amazing , super comfy beds .However we feel afew upgrades and attention is needed to make this lovely place even better"

Edwina, the owner, is so helpful and friendly too."

"Had a wonderful weekend at Kates cottage. Very comfortable bed! Plus everything you need it's home from home. Beautiful country garden which the dog loved exploring. Will definitely return!"
Lizzie
"The beds were comfortable and provision of heat sources was satisfactory. The location was delightful and we had fantastic weather, enjoying the outside space in the evenings. A friendly phone call from the owner to check on our comfort was a kind addition."
Steve
"Great location to explore the southern lakes area. Main reason for the trip was an activity booked in Bootle but S18589 location provided great central point for Windermere and Coniston.Recommend getting an asda delivery (£40 min order) or bring your own food as nearest supermarket is Booths and it's not good value for money.Kitchen missing a few things that would make self catering easier. Nothing essential really just have to improvise in some areas of cooking. Bed in master bedroom was so amazing and comfortable that we came home and bought one!Would definitely come again and compared to a lot of holiday lets in the lakes areally it's very good value for money. One note of caution. It says dog friendly but not allowed upstairs or on furniture and expected to sleep in the porch area. If your dog is as precious as ours then it may be a struggle. Also recommend you book local activities in advance. Even in Spring school holidays main attractions are very busy."
Caroline
"Lovely located cottage, in a very quiet hamlet overlooking hilltops. Very tight lanes to get to cottage. But worth the drive. When using sat nav be aware of getting to cottage, as it tried to take us down a road not suitable for carsThis road is a path that runs next to the cottage , but you cannot use it."
George
"S18589 is in a great location for visiting the Lakes. It is clean and well equipped. It also has lovely views across the hills. I would like to visit again. George. Ulster."
Michaela
"What a lovely cottage! It's by far the most comfortable and well equipped we've stayed in and the owner was a wealth of information and also rang us on the first night to check we were happy with everything. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the fire laid ready for our first evening. The bed was also very comfortable, Just what was needed after long days out walking. The location was lovely and peaceful and the views beautiful. We will definitely pop back here for another break."
Gill
"The cottage was splendid, quiet and comfortable. The open fire in the evening made the stay very cosy. The surrounding countryside was pretty and amenities were a only a short drive away. Great location to explore the lakes."

"Absolutely loved this cottage. The perfect place for our 2015 xmas. Everything we needed and very comfortable. The owner was a lovely and very helpful lady. The local pub was very friendly and we even managed to get an Indian takeaway delivered. Shopping was delivered from asda very easily. The walks are amazing and the locals very friendly. Overall perfect."

"Lovely cottage with all home comforts. The open fire was a real highlight."
Steve
"Lovely traditional cottage in a very peaceful location. All home comforts provided including plenty of heating tho we chose to use traditional open fire each night. Owners very conscientious and called on first night to check everything OK which it was. Would definitely recommend Kates cottage and hope to stay again ourselves."
dawn
"This property was not clean and was cold and was only serviced by fan heaters. We couldn't use the log fire as soot kept falling down the chimney and we were worried that if we lit it it would catch fire!! There was also no previous notes about the low ceiling in the kitchen but more importantly the very very steep stairs. The light bulbs were energy saving and took forever to brighten up - a real danger on the steep stairs The shower head in the shower room was disgusting and mouldy and it was just so cold in the downstairs bathroom it could not be used. Also only 1 tea towel left. The cooking pots were dirty and we had to put the plates and bowls in the dishwasher before we could use them!!"
Susan
"Had a lovely 4 night away in S18589. It was in a beautiful peaceful spot, but not too remote that we were able to visit all the places on our to do list. The cottage was well stocked with utensils , cutlery, pots and pans and crockery.Edwina was very helpful and gave us some good tips on places to visit, also made a phone call to check everything was OK."
Hannah
"We had a lovely stay here. The cottage is situated in a beautiful setting in the hills, the scenery is quite beautiful. The facilities were great we had everything we needed and more. Beautifully kept cottage and garden, will definitely be returning with our pooches again!"
Emma
"Booked S18589 as a last minute booking for a long weekend. Lovely cottage the dogs loved it and so did we. Lots of walking around and Windermere just down the road with some lovely boat trips. We decided when leaving we could have just stayed there and would definetly be back again. Thanks S18589 !"
Annette
"Lovely cottage in a peaceful area. Relax in the tiered gardens whilst enjoying the wonderful views and fantastic sunsets over the valley. Nicely situated for access to other areas, activities within the Lake District. Pleasant walk or drive to local village shop and easy access to steam railway. Pleasant walks all around .Would book again."
Kay
"The cottage was clean and cosy. Glorious views from the garden. Plenty of kitchen utensils if you want to cook. Beds comfortable. The owner phoned after we arrived to check we were ok and had everything we needed. A very nice break. Used open fire twice. We love to stay fhere again when in the area."
Helen
"Had a fantastic time at S18589! The location is lovely and the views were beautiful. Had 4 days of good but soggy walks and had the best time. The cottage was very clean, spacious and although no radiators there was lots of heaters. This wasnt a problem and the open fire provided enough warmth for the living room. Would definetely regimen to others!"
Michael
"Great cottage exactly what we required. No negative points. Beautifully quiet location. All the facilities you need are there. Except for the spatula! It was wooden. It happened to be shrove Tuesday whilst we were there. Let's say there was more pancake stuck to the spatula than in the pan! But I'm being picky and my children found it funny. Overall a great cottage. "
Sally
"The cottage is nicely situated along a country lane and is very quiet. We visited during a very cold New Year and we would suggest that the heating in the cottage (an open fire and electric heaters) is not sufficient when the temperature outside is not getting above freezing. It was very cold when we arrived and it was annoying that the promised initial supply of coal for the fire had not been supplied. The beds are very comfortable and the bathroom facilities are adequate. The seating in the lounge does need replacing, the tub type chairs are not really suitable for sitting in for any great length of time and the sofa is very uncomfortable and has seen better days. The kitchen is very roomy and well equipped and has a lovely big table for everyone to sit around. The step access from the road is quite tricky (one of us had a badly turned ankle from falling down the steps on the last day) and it really does need an outside light that works for dark nights as there is no street lighting. We liked the cottage and would return if these few improvements are made."
David
"Excellent venue for rest and relaxation. Lovely surroundings and somewhere I'd recommend"
Derek
"Perfect cottage, fantastic homely feel, perfect location, can't wait for our next stay! Hoping to stay twice next year. The owner Edwina is lovely, she made us feel very welcome. "
Catherine
"very homely, cosy cottage for two. great location for exploring the south Lakes area.fantastic wood fire. lovely & quiet location. very friendly & helpful host. nice & warm with plenty of extra electric heaters (which we hardly needed to use).only downside is you do need to watch your head on the bathroom shelf - better to remove it all together i'd suggest given the nearby window ledge for toothbrushes etc"
Ally
"Lovely quiet location. Central for the southern lakes. House warm once fire was lit. Unfortunately not enough fuel to build fire on arrival. Managed to purchase fuel locally. "
Colleen
"Lovely little cottage in a great location. Great garden lovely views from there. Well situated for days out and exploring the area. Would be happy to stay there again."
Richard
"Lovely quiet setting, very peaceful. Well equipped. Good to have wifi."

"Cottage Ok though I wouldn't call location really peaceful, too much traffic sound from main road a mile away. Suggest cottages needs a big de-clutter and good sort out. Also very smelly old bedding and things in bottom of second bedroom wardrobe.Glass Shelf needs moving above sink in upstairs bathroom unable to wash teeth, or face without banging head. "
