If you don’t fancy sailing your own boat why not enjoy a cruise on the lake with the famous Windermere Lake Cruises which depart from Bowness to various destinations. Alternatively if you are seeking adventure then why not try the Go-Ape treetop adventure and zip wire course which can be accessed using the traditional car ferry from Windermere to Hawkshead. If you like the rugged outdoors this is a great place to get active, being surrounded by some amazing walking and cycle routes as well some of the most picturesque scenery around including lakes, waterfalls and forests. Equally, if you are just here to relax and take in the magnificent views you are at the perfect spot!

Just a couple of miles from Bowness you can enjoy a short drive into the town, where you will be met with an abundance of traditional pubs, restaurants, cocktails bars and a wealth of boutique shops. Heading out further from Bowness you are close to Grasmere, Ambleside, Newby Bridge and the small seaside town of Grange-over-Sands. Beach 11 miles. Shop 2¼ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
