Overall stay lovely, few points living room furniture is terrible and uncomfortable, no idea how to use the heating, furniture in kitchen very dated unsecure needs attention.Having a disabled dad in wheelchair the downstairs room there wasn’t a key left for the door, had to buy bulbs for cooker hood and lots of bulbs were blown around the cottage. Not sure what we had to do with all our bin bags left them at top of lane when left if all the were improved and checked would have been a more enjoyable stay.

The cottage itself was excellent except that there was no heating upstairs and since there was snow on the ground it was pretty chilly. The views of the fells were stunning but the farm tracks to get in and out of the property were hard to negotiate in the snow and ice and we would have appreciated it if they could have been gritted or salted for safety. This made it very difficult to get out even to buy food. Also when we arrived we had no power due to Storm Arwen and since our water was pumped up from a bore hole we had no water either. No one came to see how we were or even offered us any drinking water. Having said that we had a really good holiday and the cottage was a good base for getting around the north west including the Lake District, Blackpool, Liverpool, Preston and Grange Over Sands.

We stayed at hen harrier with my elderly mother who is disabled. we had a good time and the house was lovely apart from a few hiccups which were resolved quickly by the owner once contacted. room sizes great, house a little too warm for us at times and did not know how to turn heating down. It is rural but not far in car to village or Lancaster. Black Bull was great for quiz and we were made very welcome. Coop in the village. Lots of walking information supplied. They do need to sort the waste situation, There are a few wheelie bins at the end of the long drive but all were full for the duration of our stay. No facilities for recycling or composting at house. For other disabled people looking to book I thought it might be useful to clarify a few things as everyone's needs are different. Parking was fine but steep and gravelly. We have an adapted side access car which we had to work out best place to get out due to weight of door. Then a good push up to path. The access was ramped although a little slippy due to the rain and steep. The room has plenty of space if you need to take any additional equipment and bed at good height. Ensuite has standard height toilet and left hand rail. Toilet was a little close to sink which made manoeuvring a little difficult with the molift or zimmer. (both our own). Floor could be a little slippy but mats provide and shower stool.Ensuite has a small ramp to get in due to different flower levels which made it difficult to use molift. had to transfer to wheelchair. Plenty of room due to it being a wet room. we have a self propelled wheelchair and it would just go through doorway. Kitchen had carver chairs but we used wheelchair as wellAccess to patio outside is stepped, we had our rampsLounge area had no suitable comfy seating to transfer into. Settees are very low and not particularly comfy for the rest of us. the chair in the picture had been removed.Having said all that we had a good stay and where able to work around things so my mum was included.
