"Excellent property! Clean, very comfortable and a lovely welcome pack which we really appreciated. Sue and David were very helpful and friendly. This is a perfect place to stay if visiting Lincoln. Will definitely book again!"
    Brenda – 27 Nov 2018
"We had such a great week at S25290. Sue and David are excellent hosts and have obviously put an awful lot of care and attention into the cottage. From the toilet roll to the teaspoons, everything was good quality. The kitchen was more than well equipped and everywhere was spotlessly clean. We had a fabulous welcome basket of home-made bread and marmalade as well as eggs and a few other bits and pieces which was unexpected but delicious. We made use of the plentiful supply of logs as the weather turned quite cold and it never took long to feel cozy and warm. Sue and David allowed us to store our bicycles in one of the outbuildings which gave us peace of mind.Location wise, the cottage is a 5 minute walk to the train station and from there it was 10 minutes into Lincoln. There's a convenience shop just across the road and an excellent fish and chip shop not far away.We took advantage of the many cycle ways and quiet roads to explore the area but could have easily just spent a day relaxing in front of the fire reading!I would highly recommend S25290 - it's a perfect getaway for a couple."

"The owners of the Forge have put a lot of care and attention into creating a comfortable, cosy cottage. Their welcome pack was great, with a tasty loaf of fresh baked bread included. It was lovely to sit and look over their beautiful garden watching the wildlife. The village has a couple of pubs, teashops,co-op and one stop. There is also a train station which was brilliant as we did not need to use our car to go into Lincoln. It only cost a few pounds and took just 10 mins."

"This is a lovely cottage to stay in - it has everything you might need, the owners are friendly and welcoming and we so enjoyed having the wood-burner (our stay coincided with a very wintery spell of weather)."
    Maggie – 27 Oct 2018
"A beautiful place to stay. The cottage is warm and cosy and the owners give both a warm welcome and lovely complimentary hamper to get you started. There are frequent trains to Lincoln and the station is only a few minutes walk away. One of the nicest cottages we have stayed in"
    Vernon – 14 Oct 2018
"As a frequent user of holiday cottages, I can say that S25290 is up there with the best. That part of Lincolnshire is not known as a hi-spot for holiday entertainment but if you are looking for a nice quiet rural location, this could be the one. There are lots of places to visit which might involve a bit of travelling and there are many excellent pubs and restaurants around the locality. S25290 is well kitted out with pubs, shops a local 'chippie' and the railway station close at hand. It is on a slightly busy road at peak times but we didn't find this a problem and there is private parking. The owners live on-site and are very keen to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible"

"Enjoyed our 4th stay in this lovely converted old forge. Very well equipped, clean and comfortable. Friendly hosts. We will be back again!!"
    Ken and Gill – 19 Aug 2018
"Had a great week at S25290 accommodation and owners fantastic would highly recommend. Lots to do in area and excellent rail link to lincoln only 10mins so hardly used car which was great."
    Raymond – 12 Aug 2018
"Excellent for looking around Lincolnshire. The village has a shop (very friendly staff) across the road, a Fish and Chip takeaway which is very good. A few minutes to the railway station to get to Lincoln, around £3.40 for a day return. The property is perfect as a home from home, make sure you reverse into the parking space, not a good thing to reverse out into the street.Plenty of information in the bookcase and enough places to visit, we did not cook at all, ate out every day. For two people this property is ideal."
    Christopher – 18 Jul 2018
"S25290 was an excellent place to stay, couldn't find any faults with the accommodation and easy access to Lincoln and surrounding areas. The owners David and Sue were very helpful and friendly, plus loved the welcome pack and all the little extras which made our stay so comfortable. Certainly deserves 10 out of 10."

"This is a gem of a place in Saxilby, local amenities so close at hand including the railway station making visits Lincoln so easy, less than 15min on an efficient service. Waiting for the train meant we were able to talk to local people also waiting for the train, they are all so friendly. We walked around the village each morning, everyone says good morning to you, a very welcoming village. The garden at S25290 is amazing (as good as Monty Dons'), I counted 47 fragrant roses, the Rambling Rector's scent filling some of the High Street as well as the garden. There were several honeysuckles so evenings on the patio was a heady mixture of beautiful fragrances, so relaxing. It was hard to believe you were in the middle of a village. Dave and Susan have done a marvellous job, they are knowlegable, friendly and very welcoming - the welcome pack being an indication of their friendy outlook. We would definately go back again if visiting that area, it is well worth a visit."
    Gwen – 25 Jun 2018
"We stay in various cottages when we go away and this one is by far the best. Everything you could want was provided, there was also a welcome basket of goodies. We would definitely recommend."
    M – 9 Jun 2018
"spotlessly clean, well equipped with things like bedside torches and all the little bits like washing machine liquid, so rare to see this sort of attention to detail and comfort. The owners were really welcoming and the goodies basket was so nice, only ever done this for neighbours house guests when they rented their home out in summer, never before had we been given one ourselves. The village was well supported with transport regularly and we used the buses twice so we could leave the car behind, there was a chippy as well as co-op and one stop. Pretty cottage style garden and own entrance and parking so we were left to ourselves. The furnishings etc were of good quality too. Lots of small gardens to visit, Lincoln Cathedral and Castle if wanted one can get a bus up Steep hill area to them from bus station. Olivers small boat trip was friendly and individual phone booking a One and half hour trip with a cream tea included £5 each, so cheap. Chrissy even walked us to the bus station so we got there ok."
    Margaret – 6 Jun 2018
"Excellent accommodation in a good location, very good public transport into Lincoln, nice canal walks which also includes good pubs for eating and thirst quenching. Couldn’t ask for more!"
    Derek – 27 May 2018
"This was our second visit to S25290 which was perfect for our needs. Centrally placed to visit many of the local attractions. Well decorated and cleaned to perfection. The welcome hamper was a great touch and much appreciated. Our hosts gave us access to their beautiful garden which was perfect for that evening stroll. Local shops were good and the Co-op was a short distance away. I can recommend the local Fish & Chip shop. I have no hesitation to recommend this property as it is of the highest quality."
