The cottage is on the National Cycle Network Sustrans route 64, which is a 3 mile safe and easy off road cycle into Lincoln centre as well as being just a one mile ride to the gorgeous cafe and gardens at Doddington Hall, with cycle hire being available. There are two pubs to visit in the local village and just 4 miles away is the city of Lincoln, where you can enjoy all manner of attractions such as Lincoln Castle houses, The Museum of Lincolnshire Life and the Usher Gallery. However, if it is walking trails you're looking for, the village has access to ancient woodland, a variety of wildlife and the local nature reserve in Whisby Nature Park. There is a celebration of 100 years of RAF this year and Skellingthorpe and Lincoln has very close ties to RAF, the International Bomber Command Memorial Spire which was inaugurated this year and is only 4 miles away. Skellingthorpe is a village and civil parish approximately four miles west of the city of Lincoln, with two pubs, a shop and a Post Office. The village was formerly home to RAF Skellingthorpe and was the host to one of many bomber airfields around the city of Lincoln. The village has ancient woodland to explore on foot, bicycle or horseback, with a variety of ancient oak, lime and conifers. The local nature reserve, Whisby Nature Park, is famous for its lakes and ponds and over six miles of footpaths.
