About this property

Situated at the edge of Grasmere village, with its galleries, tea rooms, restaurants and country pubs, Poet’s Corner makes an idyllic holiday retreat. The cottage itself oozes character and with a wood burning stove, enclosed outside seating area and brass bed, this is the most romantic spot imaginable.

The property is entered through a well-equipped kitchen with dining table and two chairs. The furnishings throughout are charming and comfortable, the epitome of Lakeland charm. From the kitchen, French doors open onto a very special, secluded, outdoor seating area.

The sitting room with wood burning stove and deep-cushioned furnishings is the perfect spot for relaxing after a busy day, and the views to Silver Howe are the icing on the cake. A double bedroom overlooks Dove Cottage, and the antique pine furniture works wonderfully with the Victorian brass bed. By contrast, the shower room is bright and modern with stylish and modern fittings.

Grasmere is a fantastic base for exploring on foot and by car. Rydal Water makes a great walk, as do nearby Loughrigg and Fairfield. The vibrant village of Ambleside is a short drive away and with its quirky cinemas, fantastic choice of eateries and boutique shops provides everything needed for an indulgent afternoon after an energetic morning climb.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family have been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century and Grasmere Lake, plus Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland Wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
