The village of Embleton can be traced back to beyond medieval times and during the Wars of the Roses, it suffered much from the ravages of Scottish invaders. Today, ancient castles and ruins stand testament to Embleton's turbulent past; the Church of Holy Trinity is a late-Norman church, dating from the 12th century, later to be restored in Victorian times. Viewed from the sea, the undulating whinstone ridge that shelters much of the village from east winds, resembles a caterpillar, hence the old name 'Emeldune', meaning the hill of the caterpillar. The rolling countryside means that golfers can enjoy a good 18-hole links golf course that overlooks the beautiful Embleton Bay. Recently launched is the Embleton Heritage Trails Project, consisting of six trails, ranging from a short walk around the village, to a longer six mile route, following the spectacular coastline and inland into the tranquil countryside.

View of the coast and Dunstanburgh Castle. A short walk to the beach and the village. From a personal perspective I loved the onsite pool as am a keen swimmer, it was immaculate a decent size and beautiful views Welcome pack and dog treats greatly appreciated. We loved it and have already booked again.

This time we had 2 power cuts leaving us completely in the dark (literally) from 17.00 until 09.10 next day. With 1 child aged 2 years who was hysterical and scared and cold no visit from management came. Food in freezer was thrown out and also partially cooked dinner that was being prepared. 2nd power cut was shorter and still no visit from the owners who live on site. Outside power box had no front cover and dangerous. Toaster was only working if an adult held down the sides. Very disappointing holiday and more expensive than we planned due to having to stock up freezer again

Lovely walk down to the beach. Right on coastal path. Lovely swimming pool a huge bonus. Can’t wait to come again.
