About this property

Clatterway Cottage is believed to be an old lead miner’s house from the early 19th Century. It is located in Scarthin, Cromford and has private, off road parking for two cars overlooking the mill pond. The house itself is south facing and nestles into the hillside; it is built over four floors with views across Cromford to woodland and hills. The ground floor is open-plan with a woodburning stove and under floor heating, ample seating for all with comfortable settees, Smart TV and high speed internet connection. This adjoins the dining area and kitchen with seating up to eight people. Also on the ground floor is a wet room with toilet, granite basin and shower there is also a small utility area with a dishwasher. There is a laundry room outside containing washing machine and drier. A traditional family bathroom is situated on the first floor with a comfortable double ended slipper bath. The same floor has a large south facing double bedroom with views across the valley.

There are two further bedrooms on the second floor. The south facing room has two single beds with zip and link mattresses which can be joined if required to form a large double bed. The other bedroom is L-shaped and overlooks the garden it has a small double bed on one side and a single bed round the opposite corner. The house is equipped with Egyptian cotton bedding and towels throughout. Travel cot, high chair and child safety gates are also available. At the very top of the house is an additional room/attic this is a pleasant sunny space to relax and play vinyl on the record player. Further into the attic is a children’s den/sensory area with toys, books, games and sensory lights. Outside there is a terraced garden set on three different levels with a hot tub, summer house and outdoor seating at the top. This has a sunny aspect and far reaching views across the hills on the other side of the valley. Below this is a small terrace with a built in barbecue and oven. At the bottom is a patio area with table, chairs and chiminea. Pets are allowed and the garden is safe and secure with gates and fencing.
