Saltburn-by-the-Sea 3 miles. A traditional, mid-terrace stone cottage, set on the main street in the village of Skelton-in-Cleveland, near the delightful seaside town of Saltburn. Cosy and comfortable, it provides an excellent base for exploring the nearby dramatic coastline and the wonderful surrounding countryside. Inside, there is a well-equipped, modern galley-style kitchen and a sitting room with a bay window overlooking a pleasant front street. Double doors lead into the dining room, whilst on the second floor there is a snug, perfect for relaxing with the morning newspaper. With two charming bedrooms and a family shower room, the property suits the needs of a family for an enjoyable holiday. A couple of minutes walk brings you to all the local amenities, including a supermarket and pubs, while within reach is the historic, Victorian spa town of Saltburn. Skelton-in-Cleveland is on a direct bus route to Saltburn, as well as both Guisborough and Whitby, offering ease of travelling without the need for a car. It also lies on the route of the Cleveland Way, which can make Saltburn a pleasant and interesting walk away. The small seaside resort of Saltburn has a wonderful sandy beach, with a picturesque pier and a unique gravity-fed cliff lift, which takes you from the top promenade down to the beach below. Pretty valley gardens lead into the elegant town centre where you will find quaint tea rooms, restaurants and independent shops. Enjoy a bracing cliff top walk on the Cleveland Way, or take to the spectacular moors for a days walking. With so many attractions in the immediate area, guests will have an interesting and varied holiday.
Saltburn-by-the-Sea is a Victorian seaside resort on the North Yorkshire coast. It is famous for it's cliff railway and its pier and is a good base for discovering the coast and the moors.

On further examination the skirting boards below the water ingress were showing signs of rot so it has been longstanding. The second bedroom clearly suffered from water ingress and damp from unresolved issues from roof or other failed elements. We have never stayed in a holiday cottage with such disrepair - the mould in the bathroom was totally unacceptable - we have photos. It is not an excuse to say it is an old property as it didnât matter how old a house is, good maintenance keeps it in good order. Really do not think it should be let in its current state.

Bedroom carpet very stained, wallpaper peeling in 2nd bedroom, bathroom ceiling paint was flaking in large areas. Unfortunately the back yard was not fit for use.

This cottage had everything we needed for the short period of time that we stayed. Clean, cosy & comfortable. The owner was very welcoming.
