Split into two very distinct halves - The High Town and the Low Town Bridgnorth is separated by the red sandstone ridge on which the town is built. The two halves of the settlement are connected by winding streets and staircases as well as the steep funicular railway. The town itself is host to a bustling Saturday market offering an excellent backdrop against which to explore the town and examine the castle ruins. Flowing below is the River Severn, a wonderful place for scenic walks, or a trip on the Severn Valley Railway which runs between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster, using a variety of steam and diesel engines.
