Friary Cottage sleeping up to 6 guests

Enjoy all the delights of historic Ludlow, with its many restaurants and food fairs, this lively town is perfect any time of year.

Friary Cottage is a Grade II Listed, detached and renovated town cottage. Well-positioned and beautifully presented with some antique furniture, it boasts original, quirky features and is only a 5-minute walk from the centre of the town and a 3-minute walk from Ludlow’s train station. A cosy woodburner and gas fired Aga are amongst the treasures of the house. Guests can also enjoy a private enclosed rear garden, a separate, small walled courtyard, and it is located on one of the most prominent streets of this charming medieval town. Ludlow is overshadowed by its own majestic castle, as it was once, like York, a seat of Government in Tudor and Stuart England. Now hosting the famous food festivals and events throughout the year, there is always a lively atmosphere here. It has a reputation for fine foods, award-winning restaurants, speciality and antique shops and even a racecourse. An excellent base to explore the unrivalled countryside for picnicking and walking or nearby towns such as Bridgnorth and Bewdley (Severn Valley Railway), Ironbridge, Much Wenlock, Church Stretton, Tenbury Wells and Leominster. The cathedral city of Hereford with its chained library and Mappa Mundi are all within a short drive, as are historic houses such as Witley Court, Berrington Hall, Croft Castle, Stokesay Castle and Powis Castle on the Welsh borders. Acton Scott, an historic working farm and the Secret Hills Discovery Centre are all just a few of the nearby attractions, so you will never be short of something to see. Supermarkets 50 yards, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

"One of the best cottages, that we have stayed at and Ludlow is a beautiful town, full of tearooms, restaurants and Antique shops, and a Castle for family with plenty Todo.Friary cottage is in central location with everything within a few minutes walk into town,"
    Confirmed guest – 11 Oct 2018
"Has to be 'one of' if not 'the' best cottage we have stayed in and we have stayed in a lot over the years. As other reviewers have said, what made the stay for us was meeting the owner Louise on our arrival. Louise made us feel very welcome showing us round the cottage, explaining everything and answering our questions. The cottage is grade II listed so is a little quirky but is very well equipped, warm and has a wonderful enclosed garden. Having visited Ludlow before we knew that there is limited parking in the town centre. However, it is possible to load and unload outside Friary Cottage without issue and Louise gave us use of her private parking space which is a short walk from the Cottage. A fabulous and relaxing place to stay."

"We had such a wonderful stay at Friary Cottage, a beautiful comfortable home, what more can I say other than we will be returning with our family again. Thank you again Louise, what a fabulousjob you have both done with Friary Cottage.Kindest regardsLouise & Rhys"

"An amazing holiday in a really lovely house. It’s a charming place, with amazing kitchen, bathroom and garden. Can’t fault it. Ludlow itself is a great place to use as a base to explore Shropshire."

"This is a real home from home with everything you could possibly want, excellent location and lots of space for six adults and two dogs. I would happily move in! The only minor complaint we had was not enough drying space for six towels."
    Julie – 7 Jul 2018
"Friary cottage is full of character and the owners have provided lots of little touches that really make it a home from home. The kitchen is particularly well equipped and there is a very pretty little garden to relax in. Tesco, Aldi and a local brewery are just across the road and the cottage is within walking distance of the attractive town. We thoroughly enjoyed our break here."
    James – 4 Jul 2018
"The Friary Cottage was absolutely perfect for us. A quiet, very comfortable home. Everything was just as described and the owner had prepared the most "professional" set of instructions I have ever seen."
    Elizabeth – 1 Jul 2018
"What a fantastic holiday cottage. Louise and Mark were so charming and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is full of old world charm and there is plenty of space on both floors to accommodate six adults easily. The kitchen is equipped with every serving dish, utensil and convenience known to man. We were particularly lucky with a heatwave and I loved having breakfast in the inner courtyard. The back garden is very lovely and we spent almost every evening out there, having a BBQ. We were well acquainted with Ludlow but it was nice to see the old haunts again - Dinham Weir, the Castle and Carding Mill Valley. I couldn't think of a better country destination."
    Janette – 28 May 2018
"Fabulous cottage with everything you could wish for and in a great location too."
    Karen – 4 Apr 2018
"Second stay and once again couldn't fault Friary Cottage. We loved our trips out during the day, exploring Shropshire and the surrounding counties, but it was a real pleasure coming back of an evening as it felt like home from home. Owners Louise and Mark couldn't be more welcoming with the cottage extremely well appointed and just minutes away from the town centre. All in all a great week's holiday."
    Susan – 10 Mar 2018
"Beautiful cottage and garden, loads of character together with modern bathrooms and appliances.lovely secure garden ideal for our dog. The only downside was car has to be parked away from the house and there isn’t any side entrance for the garden."
    Catherine – 25 Feb 2018
"We received a really warm welcome from the owner and enjoyed an amazing week in the cottage. The cottage had everything we needed (and more), was warm, cosy and very peaceful despite being in the town.We can’t wait to visit again!"
    Mike – 21 Jan 2018

Every item you could need has been supplied for a real 'home from home' holiday. The owners are friendly and helpful and the location is great for a break in an historic rural town. The best we've stayed in and we've already re-booked."
