About this property

Situated on a charming working smallholding in the attractive Shropshire hamlet of Grimpo is The Laurels Barn, a beautiful stone cottage for two. Offering spacious accommodation and equipped with everything you need for a self-catered stay, The Laurels Barn is an award-winning property ideal for a relaxing break to the beautiful Shropshire countryside, whilst still within reach of plenty of popular towns and attractions. On arrival you can hang up your coats and leave your boots in the handy porch, perfect for drying wet gear, and delight in finding a lovely welcome tray complete with homemade cake and jam to indulge in as you sit at the pretty dining table within the kitchen/diner. Step across the terracotta tiled floors to find a good range of appliances at your fingertips for rustling up delicious meals, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher too! Relax after a busy day in the homely sitting room where plush sofas await you along with a Smart TV for streaming your favourite film and a DVD player. A quaint desk sits at one end of the room for those who need to bring any work along on holiday, whilst to the other end is the beautiful conservatory with more seating in here and another table, great for settling down with a good book and soaking up the sun. The enclosed garden is a wonderful sun trap and is secure for any four-legged friends who are most welcome; relax here in the warm weather and look out for a variety of birds which are regularly seen on the bird table! Head upstairs to find the lovely king-size bedroom beneath the sloping ceiling, with more pretty seating up here, a picturesque dressing table and a contemporary en-suite shower room to freshen up in. Enjoy exploring the local area from the doorstep with many walks down quiet lanes and marked footpaths taking you through the landscape, whilst the nearby village of West Felton is where you can find both a well-stocked village shop and a friendly, traditional pub. The market town of Oswestry, situated on the Welsh Borders, is around six-miles away and is scattered with a good mix of independent shops, galleries, cafés and supermarkets, whist the Oswestry Town Museum and the Cambrian Railway Museum can shed light on the local history. Enjoy a wonderful day out exploring the British Ironwork Centre where marvellous sculptures can be found along a sculpture trail, as well as the Forge Falconry Experience Centre here offering excellent displays. Venture over the border into Wales to visit the iconic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct with boat rides taking you along the arched structure, and don't miss out on exploring the National Trust's Chirk Castle too. There are plenty of activities to discover within just thirty-minutes of The Laurels Barn, from hill walks to canal trips, and cycling to go-karting, there's something for everyone. Within easy reach of Chester and Shrewsbury too, The Laurels Barn makes a wonderful base for a Shropshire adventure for two.

West Felton is home to a traditional pub and village store, close to the historic border town of Oswestry. Nearby, there are a variety of shops in Ellesmere, as well as local amenities and an abundance of entertainment on and around the nine lakes which surround the town. Stroll through Cremorne Gardens, enjoy fishing and sailing, or explore Colemere Country Park with its wonderful wildlife and scenic walks.

We have stayed in numerous cottages from the Sykes website & this one is definitely the best.Ali,the owner, introduced herself shortly after we arrived-which was lovely as mostly you never meet the owner of the property. The barn has been beautifully done & has absolutely everything you need for your stay. There is a lovely conservatory-ideal to relax in after a day out & lots of nice touches throughout the property-Ali has thought of everything! It is in a lovely, peaceful area & we really recharged our batteries here.Baillie, our little dog was fascinated with the 2 cows in the field behind us!Lovely homemade cake for tea on our arrival-thank you Ali-you should be very proud of the barn-a real credit to you!A proper 'home from home' & we will definitely recommend it.
