About this property

This spacious, ground floor barn rests on the outskirts of the charming village of Evercreech in the Mendip District of Somerset. Westbrook Barn is positioned in an ideal spot for families looking to truly experience this area of Somerset. After a long day exploring the region, retire to the cosy sitting room where you can curl up under the feature fireplace with your favourite DVD playing. Head to the well-equipped kitchen for preparing sumptuous family feasts, and during mealtimes, everyone can gather round the dining table to discuss the day’s activities and plan for the next. As the evening draws to a close, there are four well-presented bedrooms to pick from, with two at each end of the property. Two of the bedrooms can be accessed down a corridor from the sitting room, including a king-size double and a single bedroom with an added mezzanine area for children. The master bedroom with en-suite shower rests at the opposite side of the barn, featuring a contemporary glass wall-effect and exposed ceiling beams, along with a king-size sleigh bed and ample fitted storage. The remaining bedroom is king-size double which is served by the ample family bathroom with a walk-in shower cubicle. Outside has a lovely garden area with a barbecue and furniture under the outdoor gazebo. On a warm evening, why not enjoy a spot of alfresco dining while the children play across the lawn? You have a few local amenities close by for convenience, while the former market town of Shepton Mallet is only 4 miles away and offers a few shops and a section of the East Somerset Railway running through the spectacular Mendip countryside. Venture further afield and uncover the delightful town of Glastonbury, with its interesting abbey ruins and the iconic Glastonbury Tor, while the cities of Bristol and Bath are within driving distance and offer a welcome change of pace. A great family getaway, any time of year.

Set at the foot of the Mendip Hills aonb, this Somerset village is nestled some three miles southeast of Shepton Mallet. It has two pubs and a local shop, as well as being within easy reach of the Royal Bath and West Showground, hosting one of Britain's major agricultural shows every year. Shepton Mallet offers a weekly market, a variety of shops, pubs and eateries, and nearby you also have Wells with its cathedral, Glastonbury, famous for its festivals and the spa town of Bath, along with many family attractions including Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves and East Somerset Railway.

The kitchen dinner was really spacious and very well equipped, we made lots of meals comfortably. The owner left us a little welcome hamper which was very thoughtful. The only criticism was the heating was not on when we arrived and wasn’t easy to get on. After calling the owner she came round to turn it on, you had to turn the radiators individually and left an electric heater. We all didn’t sleep well the first night as it was too cold, but was fine the other two. The only other thing was the amount of logs left for the fire was only enough for one night, we brought our own luckily!

The property was easy to find and very private, everything was reasonably clean except under the beds, a few speed bumps on the lane behind the barn would be welcome as some car drivers/ motorcyclists using the lane deem it to be a race track, producing an enormous amount of noise, we did have some difficulties with the shower taps, the nobs/handels were difficult to turn due to lime scale in the working parts of the thermostatic shower taps, but regardless of this, we had a wonderful time there, plenty of wildlife in and around the garden, good parking and a safe feeling all around,

It was clean and comfortable. We would not hesitate to return.
