Attractive All Buckinghamshire Cottage sleeping up to 4 guests

This beautiful, detached cottage sits in the grounds of the owner’s home and ballet school, in the Chiltern village of Prestwood, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Providing very comfortable accommodation, this two bedroom cottage has been lovingly renovated, but still has original features. The area is perfect for walkers and cyclists, with many stunning walks and bridle paths to discover in the rolling Chiltern Hills. The village has an array of local shops, including a butchers, post office, florist and a bakery, as well as a variety of pubs and restaurants. The affluent village of Great Missenden, Roald Dahl’s home for 36 years where you can find out more about his stories at the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, is just over a mile away.

The National Trust properties of Hughenden Manor, West Wycombe Park, Ashridge Estate, Pitstone Windmill and Waddesdon Manor, are all within easy reach. Other attractions include Bekonscot Model Village, 9 miles, Hellfire Caves, 11 miles, and Chiltern Valley Winery and Brewery, 17 miles. Aylesbury, Milton Keynes and Windsor, where you will find Legoland, are all less than an hour away. Trains run from Great Missenden to London Marylebone station in under 40 minutes’. "A major let down for us was it was advertised as having a secure garden, it did not.Our dogs were able to get through hedge onto the owners drive which was very busy as the owner has a ballet school on site, we had to use extendable leads for them to use the garden. Also, the single drive was very busy some days during the week with cars, that didn't bother us but may do other people."

"The cottage was fine but to describe it as luxurious (as in your description) is misleading. We were requested to phone the contact you gave us to confirm time of arrival and to be given a security code for the gate. This we did twice, leaving messages to phone us back but received no reply. We had to obtain this info. from your office. On arrival we found two bulbs not working in the sitting room which was already ill lit. We mentioned this to someone on site but they were not replaced and no other contact with us was made. If there was a visitor book we could not find one. This disregard for the paying customer seemed arrogant. We have used your company before and this experience would not put us off booking with you again but we would be disappointed if you did not mention our comments to the owners of Gardener's Cottage."

"We were a family of four adults and we all had a wonderful time at S80523 and would stay again. The cottage is quaint and cosy and the open fire would have added to the ambience had it been colder. There were a couple of things that could improve. the single beds weren't that comfy for 2 young men over 6ft but probably fine for children. Also there were only guest towels on the single beds none in the master so we would take towels on our next visit. This might have just been a blip on our stay. The kitchen was well equipped and there was a lovely private garden if you wanted to eat alfresco. Be great to visit again and use the barbecue after mountain biking through the countryside."

"We were very impressed with this cottage. It was so well equipped and beautifully decorated. It was truly a home from home. The only thing missing was a downstairs toilet, (as I was with an elderly relative that would have been useful as the stairs are hard for him) but that's being picky. The Internet was good and the location nice, with some lovely dog walks around . It's a bit of a walk to the shops but not too far. The pub at the end of the road The Chequer Tree had amazing steaks. The rail link to London was from Great Missenden and took around 38 mins. A taxi to the station was around £6 it was £4 to park in the station but spaces are non existent during the week, so I would advise a cab if you are going to venture into the city."
