Stable Cottage sleeping up to 4 guests

Light and spacious barn conversion, with miles of scenic walks in the Meon Valley, South Downs within easy reach.
Amidst beautiful rolling countryside and farmland, set in the grounds of the owner’s farmhouse within a working farm, Drayton Farm Barns (pddp, pddq & pddr) have been skillfully converted from one large barn. Offering plenty of light and space, these beautifully presented barns have been tastefully furnished to a high specification. Henwood (pddr) is an ‘upside down’ house, designed with the living area on the first floor to take advantage of the superb countryside views. They enjoy shared use of a large lawned garden, and direct access to miles of scenic walks in this wonderful part of Hampshire within the Meon Valley, with the river meandering through the farmland.
Just over a mile is the quaint thatched roof village of East Meon, which has shops, a church and two renowned pubs serving good food. West Meon (where Thomas Lord rests, founder of Lords cricket) is also close by with award-winning butchers and pub. Within easy reach are the glorious South Downs, Portsmouth with Nelsons Victory, The Mary Rose, waterside dining, designer shopping and ferry trips to the Isle of Wight, as well as Winchester Cathedral, Southampton with its extensive maritime history, the vast heathland walks and riding in The New Forest, historic Chichester with cathedral and festival theatre, beaches at the Witterings or Hayling Island, Watercress steam train, Jane Austen’s House, Gilbert White’s House, Birdworld and Marwell Zoo. London is about an hour by train from nearby Petersfield. Shops 1½ miles.
Open-plan living/dining room with kitchen area and oak floor. First floor: Double bedroom with
5ft bed, TV and en-suite shower room with toilet. Twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom and toilet. Beams throughout.

    Sue – 23 Oct 2018
"Overall the cottage was comfortable, and had everything we needed. I felt the layout of the furniture could have been better in the lounge as dining table was in the corner of the lounge next to the tv. The soft furnishings and bedding were a bit dated.Hosts were very helpful and were there if we needed them without being obtrusive. Cottage did not have much of a garden but the surrounding countryside made up for this as in a lovely spot."
    Valerie – 22 Oct 2018
"Lovely, well equipped cottage, warm and welcoming. Good host. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
    Gillian – 19 Oct 2018
"Excellent location; nice and peaceful; accommodation fairly clean; several cobwebs that should have been dealt with in the cleaning before occupancy; ensuite to double bedroom smelt of stale water because sealant around shower was missing in places; shower tray partially filled when showering due to hair down plug hole; bath in twin ensuite was extremely slow to fill and hair down that plug hole too; electrical socket behind bedside table was gaffer taped to the wall; had to move wheelie bins from under double bedroom window as the smell was horrendous, smelt like dead flesh therefore flies were in abundance; kitchen cupboards nearly all full of utensils so not a lot of space for food; some utensils not as clean as they could be; frying pan was a little rusty so unable to use; double room bed very comfortable; sofa and armchairs a bit low for us and not very comfortable; oven a bit grubby; plenty of storage space in bedroom; garden very pretty and well kept; the pigs were gorgeous; owners father apologised for bins under window, he washed the wheelie bin out after they were emptied by refuse collection, gaffer tape on socket, he explained it was difficult finding time to repair it due to lettings, also apologised for hair down plug holes very pleasant gentleman."

"A beautifully located rural holiday cottage which is well worth the 5 star rating. Lots of attention to detail with many extras which are not usually provided. Exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended."
    Anthony – 22 Sep 2018
    "well satisfied"
    Dickenson – 7 Jul 2018
"A very well equipped cottage with a friendly unobtrusive owner. It was our second visit and we look forward to a third one."
    R – 24 Jun 2018
"Really enjoyable time. Cottage was well appointed and clean. Owners very friendly and helpful. Everything we needed and a couple of welcome additions. A bit out in the country as would be expected so a little bit more difficult to get around particularly walking on roads. Overall thoroughly enjoyed and would return."
    George – 26 May 2018
"Lovely country setting gave all the charming aspects of living on a small farm with none of the downside; smell, noise, mud everywhere. Enough to see and do to last several holidays; churches, historical sites, archaeology, nature reserves, train rides, naval history, gastro-pubs. Best of all, hearing the owls hooting at night."
    Alexandra – 27 Apr 2018
"What a great cottage!! Although we had rubbish weather while there, you could not fault the cottage which was very well kept, comfortable and fully equipped. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything (including a quarter pint of milk and some shortbread waiting for us!), and the shower had great pressure! We only had one dry day, but did a lovely 12km walk straight out the door. The cottage is on a working farm so my only warning is that the animals are very boisterous in the morning, serving as an alarm clock, particularly if you keep the windows open at night! There is a pub in West Meon, and two in East Meon, either direction not more than a couple kms. We went to Ye Olde George which was nice. A day trip including Winchester and Portsmouth is also doable. Would be lovely to return in better weather!!"

"Excellent location, warm & welcoming, very high standard of cleanliness. Perfect little cottage."
