About this property

This nineteenth-century cottage is set in eleven acres of beautiful grounds opposite the owners' house - surrounded by woods and wildlife and just ten minute's walk from Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens.

Set in grounds of eleven acres and surrounded by woods and wildlife, Gamekeeper's Lodge offers simple and relaxed accommodation. The peaceful setting is perfect for getting away from it all, yet just a fifteen minute walk by public footpath to the beautiful gardens of Sissinghurst Castle and one hour from London. The cottage dates from 1804 and was originally the gamekeeper's larder to the main house, which sits directly opposite. It was then converted into an artist's studio, with a large picture window making the lodge light and airy, with a beautiful view to the pond and woods beyond. The pond is home to wildfowl, exotic ducks, chickens and geese. Much of its original character has been retained with many exposed beams remaining.  The woodburning stove helps to make the Lodge a cosy and romantic retreat. As well as the wonderful walk to Sissinghurst Castle there are many others through acres of woodland and countryside accessed directly from the cottage by footpath. The charming country town of Cranbrook is only three miles away.
