About this property

The period stonework of Diplock Cottage makes this special property feel steeped in time, but don’t let appearances deceive you. Step inside and it’s very much twenty-first century comfort and convenience, including a garden room with large double doors that flood the interior with light. This is a place to feel at home in, with a master bedroom that has its very own dressing room as well as an en-suite.

With three reception rooms on the ground floor as well as the kitchen, there’s lots of space for the whole family to relax. And for those of you who don’t want to be parted from their digital creature comforts, there’s Sky TV and a Bose speaker system too.

The village of Chadlington is a pleasant place for a stroll, with a village shop and a friendly village inn, but you might prefer just spending some time relaxing in the well-established garden, with its tasteful beds of shrubs and plants. There’s a raised decking area that’s the perfect place to relax after spending the day exploring some of the gems of the Cotswolds.

  • Attractions and nearby amenities

  • Winston Churchill’s ancestral home, Blenheim Palace is one of the most magnificent stately homes in the country. The Palace is home to some fine works of art, but the gardens are equally worth spending time in, having been specially designed by Capability Brown. Make sure to take a trip on the miniature railway too!

  • Nestled in a peaceful loop of the River Evenlode, North Leigh Roman Villa dates back to the fourth century and is little more than ruins today. However, there’s one special reason to come and visit. The villa is home to one of the largest and best-preserved Roman mosaic floors in the country.

  • If that whets your appetite for ruins next to rivers, Minster Lovell Hall is a 15th century manor house that lies next to the River Windrush. The ruined walls seem to mingle enchantedly with the trees, and there’s a dovecote on the estate too.

  • Lodge Park’s unusual claim to fame is that it’s the only 17th century grandstand remaining in England. The building is quite unique, and the grounds are worth exploring too. This beautiful landscape is home to herds of deer and is great birdwatching country.

  • Oxford may be famous as the city of dreaming spires but there are plenty of other attractions to enjoy on a day trip here. Take a punt along the river, for instance, or visit the overwhelming collection of treasures and curios at the Pitt Rivers Museum. If you’d like to visit one of the colleges, Christ Church has to be one of the most impressive.

  • Another town that’s a must-see during your stay is Cheltenham, with its beautiful Regency period streets. For some top-notch shopping, visit Montpellier to the south of the town. If you’re here during the summer, you’re bound to catch a festival – they hold one for everything from science to food and jazz to literature.
