Bertie's Barn is a fabulous rural retreat set in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. This renovated Grain Barn and Tack Room has been beautifully furnished throughout offering guests a truly lavish and opulent experience. The three large bedrooms are decorated with individual styles in Paint & Paper Library Colours, retaining the original wood work and beams where ever possible and offer high quality furnishings creating a peaceful and relaxing haven for any holidaymaker. The large open plan living area is perfect for entertaining guests or for cosy evenings in front of the woodburning stove. Every detail in Bertie's Barn has been well thought out including the private outdoor patio ideal for soaking up the Suffolk sun. There is a stable yard and surrounding the holiday cottage is the stunning Suffolk countryside, wildflower meadows, walkways and woodland, including a large pond complete with a summer house and rowing boat for the ultimate lazy summer days. Located in Lindsey, a small village in the middle of Suffolk, the popular locations of Lavenham, Sudbury, Hadleigh and Bury St Edmunds are only a short drive away. Open Plan Room with Sitting Area: TV, DVD and woodburner. Dining Area: Large dining table and chairs. Kitchen Area: Electric double oven and hob, warming drawers, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher.
Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble dryer, washbasin and wc, luggage storage, clothes drying area.
The Old Tack Room (Bedroom 1): King size bed with original floor boards and small outdoor decking area with garden furniture. En-Suite Bathroom with bath and shower attachment, washbasin and wc.
Bedroom 2: Super king size bed.
Shower Room: Large walk-in shower, washbasin and wc.
Games Room and Library (Mezzanine Floor): TV, bean bags, table and chairs with a selection of books and games.
Bedroom 3: Zip and link twin beds which can be made into a king size bed (please specify your preference at time of booking).
The Alcove (Bedroom 4): Single bed with a pull out truckle bed underneath, comfy armchairs and clothes storage.
Shower Room: Shower cubicle, washbasin and wc.
Garden: Private patio with garden furniture and barbecue. There is also access within the owner's grounds to a large pond where you can use the small rowing boat, picnic area and summer house.
Parking: Private parking for up to three cars (more parking space available by prior arrangement with the owner).
Heating: Oil-fired heating.
Pets: Two well behaved dogs welcome.
Notes: Wi-Fi and towels provided. Highchair and stairgate available to use. Please note Bertie's Barn is located within the grounds of the owner's home. Riding lessons are available by arrangement with the owner. Please be aware there are a couple of ponds (one very large) in the grounds therefore children should be supervised at all times.
Security Deposit: A £150 security deposit is required four weeks prior your holiday.
Lindsey is a small village located right in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. Although the village is small it is well served by a pretty village pub serving great good and offering a fantastic outdoor pub garden. There is also a local farm shop called Hollow Tree where you can purchase lots of local produce to help satisfy any hunger cravings during your rural retreat. Surrounding the village are a wealth of footpaths and cycle routed just waiting to be explored. Only few miles away is the very popular medieval market town of Lavenham. Here you will find plenty to see and do with a great variety of museums, shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Other places of interest nearby include the large cathedral town of Bury St Edmunds, the charming market town of Hadleigh, the picturesque village of Kersey, and the popular destination of Long Melford, home of Kentwell Hall, Sudbury and Gainsborough's House.
