Old Newton is a typical mid-Suffolk village, situated on the high ground between Haughley, which is just off the A14, and the picturesque town of Mendlesham. Old Newton and the immediate area offers a host of lovely bridle paths for walks of all lengths and cycling on the country lanes is a popular pursuit, whilst a number of riding stables in the near vicinity provide equestrian diversions. The village is ideally situated for exploring the nearby historic towns of Lavenham, Framlingham, Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds. The Museum of East Anglian Life is found in nearby Stowmarket. Ickworth House (National Trust) and Helmingham Hall are an easy drive away. Old Newton is only forty minutes from the seaside resorts of Aldeburgh, Dunwich, Walberswick and Southwold.
