The Heritage Coast is only a few miles away with miles of golden beaches, castles and friendly villages. From Swarland you can travel in all directions passing through Rothbury and out towards the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park and the Northumberland National Park. Newcastle upon Tyne is only 28 miles away should you need some true retail and cultural therapy, take the train from Alnmouth, just 8 miles away and leave your car for a hassle free few hours away.
