About this property

Whinhill Cottage is located a stone's throw from the quiet village of Ottringham, with all amenities at 500m. This beautifully presented brick built cottage is semi-detached with the owner's property but is completely self-contained. With lovely views over the Yorkshire countryside, Whinhill Cottage offers high-quality accommodation for up to 5 people. They say the kitchen is the heart of the home, and that's certainly true for Whinhill Cottage. The superb kitchen diner is fully fitted with a large range cooker and a generous island unit, plus dining for 6 people and picture windows that make the most of the lovely views over the fields. There's also a utility with a washing machine and dryer, and a cloakroom with WC, washbasin and shower cubicle. Enjoy a quiet read in the cosy book nook with handy and well-stocked bookshelves, or enjoy the latest TV with Netflix in the comfortable living room with woodburner. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, all with generous storage provided by a chest of drawers and/or a wardrobe. The twin bedroom enjoys more of those really charming views, while the spacious king size bedroom has a dual aspect and a TV. The charming single bedroom has a sloping ceiling but with adequate head height and, again, those lovely views of the countryside through a pretty feature window. Finally, the family bathroom has a WC and washbasin, generous corner bath and separate shower cubicle. Whinhill Cottage has a nicely paved patio area with outdoor furniture, plus access via a gravel path to a lovely enclosed lawned area. There's also generous off road parking for 2 cars. The garden is private and tranquil, with plenty of space for children and animals, and the perfect spot for a glass of wine after a busy day on the Tolkien Trail.

Just a short stroll brings you into the village of Ottringham with its pub, Indian restaurant and village store. Whinhill cottage is just 12 miles from Hull, the 2017 City of Culture with its museums, galleries, shopping and restaurants and just 8 miles from the beautiful east Yorkshire coast with its stunning seafood, fascinating wildlife and beautiful scenic walks and cycle rides. East Yorkshire really has it all - from coast to city to country, there's plenty to see and do. The Tolkien Triangle is a must see for any fans of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, while the new Fruit Market development in Hull has galleries, eateries and the world's only Museum of Club Culture. With so much to see and explore on the doorstep, Whinhill Cottage is the ideal base for a half term break or a summer holiday. Perfectly located for discovering all the delights of this beautiful area of Yorkshire, Whinhill Cottage is ideal for a family holiday at any time of the year.

Ottringham is a village in the East Riding of Yorkshire. We had a great stay and were really lucky with the weather. Goodies very welcome after a long journey.

The property owners kindly left us some milk, fresh eggs, a bottle of bubbles and a tasty cake to welcome us. The photographs are accurate, but the property is much bigger than the photographs show. We had a short weekend break, but could easily stay here longer. The property is in a quiet village but close enough to Hull and the east Yorkshire coast. There is a lovely pub in the village and shops within a short drive of the property.
