Hop off in Horton-in-Ribblesdale if you want to tackle the Yorkshire Dales National Park’s famous Three Peaks: Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside. Alternatively, drive across the Forest of Bowland to visit the historic city of Lancaster (23 miles). Explore its magnificent castle and stroll along St George’s Quay to marvel at the Georgian architecture that lines the banks of the River Lune.
