Single holiday let sleeping up to 12 guests in total
A 200 year old farmhouse in a spectacular ‘away from it all’ location in the glorious Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From its hillside perch this wonderful old stone building has breathtaking views along the Nidd Valley over to Scar House Reservoir.
Sensitively and lovingly restored, Edge Farm now provides award winning self catering accommodation for up to 12 people. The house is full of character and beautifully furnished. You will find plenty of 21st century conveniences rubbing shoulders with charming period features; thick stone walls, wooden beams, a huge stone fireplace and wood burner. The kitchen is equipped with quality appliances whilst the lounge boasts a widescreen TV, DVD and HiFi. At the end of the day you will sink into comfy beds dressed with 100% Egyptian cotton sheets. The house makes a cosy winter retreat, as alongside the woodburners it is centrally heated and the ground floor has underfloor heating.
Outside you will find a lawned garden, waterfall, covered pond and ample parking for up to six vehicles. There is a large patio area with garden furniture.
Needless to say, this is a wonderful area for walking. The Nidderdale Way (a 53 mile circular route) passes the farm, taking the walker up to the reservoir and to the windswept hill village of Middlesmoor or down the valley to Pateley Bridge, Brimham Rocks and Ripley Castle.
The village of Lofthouse is just 3 miles away. It has a great pub, The Crown Hotel that also serves food. Do also try the Michelin starred Yorke Arms in nearby Ramsgill-in-Nidderdale (5 miles away).
Adrenaline activities can be found at How Stean Gorge, billed locally as “Little Switzerland”. The local activity centre offers gorge walking, canyoning, caving, rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing and via ferrata high wires.
For more restful days out why not take a Brewery Tour in the attractive market town of Masham? The beautiful but haunting Fountains Abbey is just 45 minutes away while Harrogate, Skipton, Ripon and York are all within easy reach.
