    Rebecca – 20 Dec 2020
"We had booked a cottage for a much needed break which ended up in a tier 3 area, meaning that if we still wanted a break we would need to change our booking which we did just two weeks before our booking. We needed a 'home from home' where we could have a cosy hideaway to relax but within distance of a pub or two to grab a meal if we wanted. Emma gave us a very warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The fire was lit for our arrival, and I can honestly say that from that point I was glad that we'd had to change our original booking to this unique cottage! Other places we'd stayed only gave an initial supply of wood for the fire. However, Emma showed us the wood store and we were able to have free wood all week which was amazing. There was absolutely nothing to fault about the accomodation at all. Luxurious furnishings and beds. Games and pool table. Walks from the front door. There was nothing not to love about The Annexe. We would absolutely recommend without hesitation and if we get the opportunity would love to come back. We wanted and needed a complete get away from it all in the peace and quiet of the country and this little gem perfectly fitted the bill!"

"Lovely, spacious property with many homely touches. Very clean throughout and well supplied with household essentials. The fresh flowers and welcome pack were a very nice touch. The Annexe is well located for the western Dales and has several walks directly from the property. Highly recommended."
    Vincent – 8 Sep 2020
"Nice cottage with amazing gardens and courtyard.Plenty of logs for the wood burner and great welcome pack"
    Geoff – 5 Sep 2020
"Very well equipped and presented property, in a great location"
    Neil – 4 Sep 2020
"A really lovely relaxing space. Friendly welcome, spotlessly clean, quality linen and towels and a welcoming lounge with toasty log fire - what more to ask for? The courtyard is great for sitting out in for meals and having a barbecue and very private. Very much appreciated the large TV, good speaker system and snooker table. Wandering over to the abbey in the evening to catch the sun go down was a treat. The (only) minor consideration is that the kitchen only has a small and slightly weedy 2 hob hot plate (but excellent oven and microwave) so cooking might be limited (but you are on holiday!)"

"One of the best staycations I’ve had.. Emma was so lovely and helpful and the annex was totally amazing 5 *****"
    Tom – 17 Aug 2020
"The Annex is a gorgeous place to stay. It is beautifully furnished, spacious, superbly well equipped and relaxing. We had a fabulous time staying there. There is so much to do both on the doorstep and many local attractions a short drive away. Big thank you to the family for such a warm welcome. We would highly recommend staying there."

"Can't fault it. We had a fantastic week. The Annexe is stunning and location was perfect for us"
    Sharon – 18 Jul 2020
"What a fantastic holiday we had at The Annexe. From the moment we arrived in the gorgeous courtyard garden and were so warmly welcomed we felt at home. We arrived frazzled after 7 months without a break and four months of lockdown and a week later we felt we had regained something of our old selves. The Annexe is much more spacious than it looks in the photographs online. The living space is airy and light, perfect for the warmth of summer, yet with the blinds closed and the woodburner going on our one chilly evening it was cosy and delightful. It would make a great winter break destination too! The furniture is superbly comfortable and the whole place is wonderfully stylish and laid back. We slept like tops in the very comfortable bed. Both bedrooms are charming and the sparkly white cotton bedlinen was crisp and inviting. Thick fluffy towels are supplied and we enjoyed the rainforest style shower. There were fresh flowers in the living room and in our bedroom when we arrived and Emma had supplied lots of welcome goodies. One of the nicest and most thoughtful “welcome packs” we have ever had. We were the first post lockdown guests and we felt really confident in the careful cleaning and preparation of the cottage. There were even little bottles of hand sanitiser for us to use while out and about. There are no shops within walking distance but both Leyburn and Masham have plenty to offer and it’s possible to get online deliveries to the cottage if that is your thing. The cottage is a great location for the northern Yorkshire Dales, between Masham and Leyburn. There is helpful information in the cottage about local destinations and the owner gave us directions on how to walk to The Coverbridge Inn along the river with our dog. That was marvellous and it was possible for our cocker spaniel to enjoy some off lead time along the river as there were no sheep in the adjoining fields. We also did a 7 mile circuit that takes in Jervaulx Abbey, Thornton Steward, Danby Hall and The Coverbridge Inn. Two lovely walks right on the doorstep. We had the most marvellous time. The owners are lovely but unobtrusive hosts and clearly the cottage has been a labour of love rather than just a business. We really hope to get back soon!"

"Beautiful location and cosy cottage. Emma gave us a warm welcome and left us a grocery pack including home made cake, preserves, free range eggs and a loaf. Lots to see and do in the area - a perfect relaxing winter break."

"What an amazing place to stay , so relaxing and with great walks and places to visit on your doorstep . Everything you could need is provided here and the pool table was a great hit . The fire was lit and the Christmas tree twinkling when we arrived -a special place ."
    Paul – 12 Dec 2019
"Booked last minute and arrived to a well equipped and clean home. The owners made a point of greeting us and making sure we were Ok. The area is beautiful and there are plenty of places to visit. The brymor icecream is great and the creamery at Hawes is worth a trip."
    Mags – 28 Oct 2019
"Super property, lovely location and views. Friendly, helpful and unobtrusive owners. Excellent supply of essentials: tea, coffee, milk, dish washer tablets, hand soap, kitchen paper, washing up liquid, loo rolls etc. Also one of the best welcome packs we've received in over 16 years of staying in 4/5 star self catering accommodation. Very comfortable furniture and bed, great shower and bath. Plus a fantastic super-warm log burner made up for our arrival, with an unlimited supply of logs which can sometimes be lacking in other properties. We had a brilliant and relaxing week at the Annexe, and we highly recommend- but maybe not too much as we'd like it to be available for future stays :-)"

The special features really made this holiday memorable, the fabulous log burner, pool table, delightful sunken bath, piano were all just wonderful. The annexe is in a beautiful area too, perfect for exploring with lots to do within a short drive. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning."

"What a wonderful place to stay! And what wonderful and helpful owners! The Annexe is simply one of the most gorgeous places we have stayed in! Everything there is so beautiful.... the Annexe itself, the courtyard, the Abbey, the walks in the country side, the villages and pubs nearby. Our highest recommendation! Thank you for a beautiful week!!!"

"Fabulous property! Spacious and bright with everything we could possibly need. As it rained all week we used the wonderful log burner each day. Enclosed court yard, good parking, lots of information provided of where to go, eat and shop."
    Elizabeth – 9 May 2019
"Our family holiday in the Annexe was wonderful, creating beautiful memories for all of us. The Annexe was lovely, equipped with everything we would expect and much more. The Annexe is only a few strides away from the Abbey, with picturesque walks in parkland. The welcome by the family and their thoughtfulness throughout our stay was second to none, going above and beyond all expectations. We cannot thank the family enough. We can without hesitation recommend a holiday in the Annex."
    Helen – 8 May 2019
"This is a lovely apartment in a converted stable block. The kitchen could be better described as a kitchenette as the oven and sink are small and the hob only has two rings. In all other respects it couldn't be better, with comfy chairs and loads of logs for the log burner. It is in a beautiful setting with lovely walks on the doorstep, but also within easy distance of nearby villages."
    Gill – 4 Apr 2019
"We came for a relaxing 4 day break. The Annexe gave us that. Our hosts were terrific. Friendly, helpful and generous. A lovely quality welcome basket filled with locally produced, and homemade fayre. The snooker tournament we held was hilarious. Come beds and luxury bathroom. Our dog was made very welcome and the owners dogs were very friendly. Logs burner perfect and the well equipped kitchen helped us to enjoy our evenings."
