English Heritage's Rievaulx Abbey is close by too and there is a multitude of excellent walks in the near vicinity, the most well known of these - the Cleveland Way, starting in the village itself. The region's capital of York is less than an hour's drive to the south, whilst Scarborough and the east coast just over an hour. The famous steam railway line at Pickering is just a thirty minute drive away.

It has clearly been updated since the pictures online were taken. Good access to major routes to the coast and close enough to Helmsley to make eating out there possible. The facilities were really good and some unexpected extras ( milk, kitchen roll, tea and coffee) meant we could settle in straight away. We mainly used it as a base to explore the coast from and chose to eat out each night. But there were potsand pans etc available had we wanted to cook. The furniture was clean and comfortable enough for our needs. We stayed with 2 small dogs so it was great to have the little garden. We would definitely recommend and hope to return in the future.

The garden was a lovely space for our dog to run about in safely.Got to talk to Tim the gardener very friendly guy and knowledgeable about the area very helpful during the owners holiday absence.We will definitely book again thankyou.

The photos don't do the property justice as it is so much more updated than the photos show. We had the full use of the owners garden which our dog enjoyed and the owner was very friendly and provided us with tea, coffee and milk when we arrived. We couldn't fault anything as it had everything we needed and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
