Wonderful Selby Cottage sleeping up to 9 guests

These two attractive cottages set across a beautiful tree lined driveway from each other, can be found in the Vale of York, at the base of the Yorkshire Wolds, an ideal central base from which to discover and explore the many attractions that Yorkshire has to offer. Visit the North York Moors, with its glorious purple heather and steam railway, or the east Yorkshire coast, with miles of pristine sandy beaches and the coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington. Spend the day in the historic walled city of York with its endless array of attractions, including the Jorvik Centre and the imposing minster, or for a more cosmopolitan experience, visit the city of Leeds with its outstanding Victoria Quarter. Alternatively take a trip to Hull, the 2017 City of Culture, and explore its marina, historic old town, free art gallery and museums, and the award winning aquarium, The Deep.
The market town of Howden with its mediaeval minster is only a 10-minute drive and offers a wonderful range of shops including family butchers, bakeries, delis, a wine shop and also a larger supermarket. In addition there are a range of restaurants, coffee shops and pubs to enjoy. Beverley, another market town well worth a visit, is just half an hour away with its famous horse racing track located on the Westwood. The area around the houses offers direct access to a range of pleasant country walks and cycle routes including the Wolds Way and Trans Pennine Trail. Other country pursuits available nearby include fishing, bird watching, clay pigeon shooting and horse riding. Should you wish to enjoy the wide variety of bridle paths with your own horse, stabling/grazing (at cost, by arrangement with the owner) is available at the owner’s farm at the end of the beautiful tree lined drive. Shop 3½ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile. S38006 (ref W43742) can be booked together with Portington Lodge (ref UKC2045) to accommodate up to 15 guests.

"Beautiful house. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The only negatives (although these did not affect our stay... A pizza cutter would have been useful as would a dvd player in the main lounge not just the 2nd smaller lounge). Amazing homemade flapjacks from the owner 😀. I would highly recommend this house."

"A beautiful home. Perfect for two families to meet and spend time together. The size of the rooms was excellent. The children and dog used the garden and we ventured out on local footpaths for walks. We travelled from the S38006 to Hull, Pontefract and Castleford (each about a 30min drive). Would highly recommend to others. The owners were on hand for anything that was needed."

"A really lovely, well equipped house - ideal for three generations. Spacious accommodation with plenty of space for the children to play inside and out. We had beautiful weather and in every direction were the yellow fields or rapeseed in flower. Although close to a rural road it was very quiet - we slept well on the very comfortble beds, though the toddler wasn't happy in the unfamiliar travel cot! Welcoming, friendly owners. A very flat landscape, very different from Skye where we live - we all enjoyed a visit to the RSPB reserve at Ousefleet. It took longer than we anticipated to get to York (hence the lower score on location) but the National Railway Museum was a hit."

"The house was lovely and a perfect place for us to spend a week with friends. Our group consists of 4 adults and 3 under 3's so the option to have stair gates at the top and bottom of the stairs, as well as a travel cot and highchair were most welcome. The welcome pack of fresh eggs, bread, jam and flapjacks was indeed most welcome! The rooms are beautifully decorated and clean and the house comes with everything you would expect of a high standard holiday let. Wonderful views of the surrounding fields kept the little ones entertained as they played 'tractor spotting' every morning - our stay coincided with the potato harvest. Two reception rooms each with their own TV makes perfect sense for a medium-large group. The Yorkshire Wildlife Park is well worth a visit, and we had a lovely meal in the pub in the next village. We would stay again if returning to the area."

"It was a pleasure to stay at S38006. Plenty of room for 9 of us, age range, 2 to 60+. Owners very friendly and welcoming. Everything provided that we might need, including a stair gate for an inquisitive 2 year old!! We were especially impressed with the spacious, secure garden, allowing the grandchildren to explore safely. We also loved watching the harvesting and ploughing close up! Would definitely recommend this property."
"Beautiful house in a fantastic setting surrounded by fields and countryside. Lovely welcome pack from the owners on arrival which was very much appreciated. Nearest village (Howden) is about 5 minutes drive away and has a co-op, chip shop, a nice Indian restaurant (Zolsha) and a good Chinese restaurant. Places to visit are between half an hour to an hours drive from S38006, but this accommodation is so comfortable and peaceful it really is worth it and we would definitely stay again. Amanda & Steve are very friendly and welcoming. 10/10"

"This house is absolutely gorgeous. It has rain showers in the bathrooms, two lounges (we designated one for the children and one for the adults!), a big very well equipped kitchen and a lovely enclosed garden. We stayed with 9 people and felt like we had plenty of room. The hosts were lovely and made themselves extremely available bring us an extra chair immediately when we needed it. I would highly recommend this house. The only issue is it's location. It took us about an hour by car to get anywhere which was a bit of a shame."
