"The house was in a lovely location with large enclosed garden. Plenty of space for the children both inside and outside. It is only 10 minutes from Langholm, a friendy little town with interesting shops. There are a number of lovely walks in the area around the River Esk, which we enjoyed very much."
"We only stayed in the property for one hour as I had an urgent call to return home. This review therefore is based solely on first impressions. The house was quite remote. The windows were rather dirty which was more noticeable due to the striking views from some windows. I found the interior to be rather gloomy. The furniture (sofas and chairs) was rather uncomfortable and well worn and totally unsuitable for people with limited or restricted mobility e.g. My elderly mother could only have sat on a dining chair due to the very low and lumpy furniture. The bedrooms were gloomy. We were disappointed to note that access was not until 5pm which would make finding the property in winter time extremely difficult due to its remoteness. We only found this out on receipt of key instructions at the same time as finding out that heating would be charged for from 1st October. Information that could influence the decision to book the property."
"The double beds are very small in sunken mattresses are awful the sleep on. The property looks like it hasn't had any money spent on it in 30 years. There's bats dying in the log burning fire. No black bin at the property makes things difficult when you have dogs. And all the pictures of nude children are very inappropriate. The kitchen was poorly equiped. I found myself weeding as the garden was a mess. There was an axe left out which was dangerous for the children.we couldnt all sit and watch a film at the end of a tiring day because its tooked in the window sil and the sofas are just as uncomfy as the beds...we couldn't rest!....we left two days ealy in favour of a comfy bed! It was far too expensive....we were all very disappointed.."
"We thoroughly enjoyed being there, beautiful countryside and Langhom was a nice town to visit as were all the surrounding attractions"
"Arrived late on the Friday night to a cold house which is the only disappointment we had all weekend. It would have been lovely to go into a nice heated cottage. The cottage itself is set in lovely grounds and is nice and spacious for a large family gathering. We all thoroughly enjoyed the cottage ."
"We've stayed in this property before, and love the outlook, the homeliness of it, the fact that it's crammed full of books and feels welcoming and personal, the garden and the bird feeders outside the windows. Sad not to be able to use the open fire. The sleeping accommodation is very flexible, and it was great that all the rooms were made up and ready. We had friends to stay for a day or two when we were there, and the kitchen and dining room space is wonderful for sociable cooking and eating. It was nice of the owner to contact us to see we had arrived safely. We'd love to stay again (in fact we'd like to live there)."

"Tree felling was going on whilst we were there which totally ruined the holiday. This is the second time we have been to the cottage, which is why we feel so let down this time. It is a lovely cottage and the location is stunning, we just feel totally let down as we were not notified of the tree felling. We also couldn't find the games this time so had to go out and buy some for the kids. Also there was no visitors book with recommendations in which we really missed."

"The house is in a lovely quiet location, so is ideal for families and pets. The garden is huge and it was great to see so many birds and the occasional pheasant, in there. The accommodation was spacious and the furnishings comfortable. One area that could do with some improvement is storage space in the kitchen cabinets. Although there were plenty of them, nearly all were full - a "de clutter" would help as it leaves little space to store food stuffs. This is a very miner gripe though in what is otherwise a hard to fault property. Oct 2011. "

"The cottage is excellent. Far better than is suggested by the pictures on the website. Finding the cottage is tricky - espececially as directions on website don’t have a starting point so you are never quite sure you are on the right road. June 2011."

"We needed 5 bedrooms with at least one double and one bathroom on the ground floor, due to my fathers illness. This was key to our booking. The property offered spacious accommodation with the kitchen and open plan dining room being our favourite, the hub of the house!! The garden is simply beautiful and so, so big. Not least, the location! If you seek a tranquil setting amongst hills and forests, look no further, it’s idyllic! Feb 2011."

"Although it poured every day we snuggled up in the cosy kitchen and the dogs loved the enclosed garden, although the nearby Forest of Ae had excellent walks too. We had a delightful weekend. Nov 2008."
