Riverside walks are on the door step with abundant bird and wild life to enjoy, the WWT reserve at Caerlaverock is only a short drive with excellent viewing and hide facilities from which to enjoy the hordes of Geese, Swans and other visiting birds including Ospreys. The area fully caters for pretty much all outdoor pursuits be it fishing, golf, mountain biking, walking and star gazing either from the house itself or the Galloway Forest Park which is a short drive to the west. While visiting the area don’t forget to see the wonderful sandy beaches and rugged cliffs that make up the dramatically contrasting Solway Firth coastline.

The house is on the edge of Glencaple Village which has a hotel and excellent riverside café while the capital of South West Scotland, Dumfries is only a 5 minute drive and provides good shopping, restaurants and sports facilities.
