Knockkennoch 2 sleeping up to 4 guests

Close to both the river and sea at Kirkandrews this cottage is well placed for fun and relaxation.
Knockkennoch 2 is one of two adjoining cottages, picturesquely situated on the sea in the small hamlet of Kirkandrews. The cottage is the ideal place to relax and unwind with views looking out over the Solway coast. With beaches on your doorstep as well as opportunities for hill walking, sea fishing, golfing, cycling and water sports, there’s plenty to keep the whole family occupied. Or perhaps visiting historic castles, renowned gardens and ancient woodland will appeal to you? Kirkandrews Kirk, sitting opposite the cottage, is a unique little kirk (or church) completed in 1906, with parapet and castellated tower resembling a miniature castle. Set in a charming coastal location, the property is only a short drive from the harbour town of Kirkcudbright, known as ’Scotland’s Artists Town’ and was particularly popular with the Colourists, many of whom lived in the town in the early 1900s. It is a very active and friendly community; visitors to the town can enjoy the variety and number of activities and events held in the area all year round. Shops and restaurants 8 miles, pub 3 miles.
For larger groups, Knockkennoch 2 can be booked together with Knockkennoch 1 (CC537259) to accommodate up to 10 guests. The cottages have a shared 1-acre garden and are bordered by 2 burns (or streams) with access to a private beach.

    Lynn – 19 Oct 2018
"This place has potential to be amazing. The situation is to die for but let down by a few issues. Don't expect a welcome pack like most other properties. Not even a toilet roll in this case! The house was dirty and hadn't been hovered. Whoever cleaned obviously only changed the beds and towels.....the dirty linen was the first thing I was greeted by when I arrived! Fortunately the caretaker arri ed to collect it and provided toilet roll. The lounge was so cold we couldn't use it even with the fire and heating on but the kitchen dining area was cosy but could do with a few cushions. The hot water didn't reach the bath and never enough for more than one quick shower. Very disappointing!"

"We adored our stay here. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and very homely with fabulous views. We loved being so close to the sea and watching the tide come and go. Plus the beach is a treasure trove for shell hunters and shrimpers! It’s a rural location and pretty remote but the house felt very secure and cosy even with a storm blowing outside. We would return without hesitation. However, it’s worth noting that you’ll need to do a thorough shop before getting to the cottage as the nearest shops are a twenty minute drive away (remember to buy washing up liquid, sponges, soap etc as there are none at the cottage). The WiFi was excellent and logs are provided for the fires. We truly didn’t want to leave..."

"An excellent cottage in a very beautiful place with stunning views. The cootage was very well equipped and the eds were very comfortable. We were able to take our dog and a bath was greatly appeciated."

"Loved the location - fantastic views and walks from the house. Warm and cosy - so a great house to spend the day in when it's raining too and we spent hours watching the tide come in and out and enjoying the birds from the window!"
