Gifted by Robert the Bruce to the Carruthers family – the ruin of their 14th-century home is a feature of the park – the lands of Mouswald boast mature trees and landscaped gardens commanding magnificent views over idyllic Borders countryside to the hills beyond.

Great place if you want total peace and quiet. Staff were helpful and lodge was clean. Only down side was not any place to walk the dog. Had to travel to find a decent walk for him. Never got the chance to use the hot tub due to the lovely Scottish weather.

Overall the lodge was a good size, however we felt the beds need looking at as they were not comfy at all, plus better pillows and linen. Also they advertise WiFi which was not great at all, whilst I appreciate the remoteness of the site, I do feel it should be better advertised. Also I do feel some of the kitchen pots could be replaced.

Everything that we needed. Great location, accommodation and value for money. The lodge was immaculately clean and the on-site team were happy to help with anything that we needed. Will definitely be back!
