This beachfront cottage sits across the road from Powfoot Beach, a striking stretch of sand and shingle, perfect for paddling, with a local coastal footpath nearby. Access to the beach directly in front of the property is via rough, narrow, tracks which can be slippy in some conditions, so care should be taken. Easier access to the shore can be found a couple of hundred metres further west. There's also plenty of birdlife to observe at the splendid Caerlaverlock Castle and Nature Reserve. There is a shop at Queensberry Bay Holiday Park, less than a mile away along the coast, where you can pick up essentials for picnics, whilst the on-site spa is open to non-residents should you wish to indulge in a treatment or two. Cyclists can enjoy some of the renowned 7stanes mountain biking trails, as well as Sustrans Cycle Route 7, taking in miles and miles of beautiful scenery. From an afternoon at the beach to a morning in the Galloway Hills, there is something for everyone at this lovely coastal cottage. EPC Rating: Band D

Situated on the banks of the River Annan, the historic town of Annan was once the site of Roman camps and the workplace of the writer Thomas Carlyle. In honour of the Royal Charter bestowed by King James V, every year, the town celebrates with parades, massed pipe bands and competitions. Many small towns, villages, hamlets and stunning sandy beaches make up the area around the town. Further afield are the city of Glasgow, the abbeys of Melrose and Jedburgh, plus the northern part of the Lake District and Hadrian's Wall. Annan and the surrounding area are a perfect base, at any time of the year.

Decorated and furnished tastefully throughout. Nice artwork. Very friendly and informative greeting from Carol on arrival and a goody box full of essentials treats. The cottage was nicely decorated for the Christmas season which was very welcomed. Stunning location and views. Quiet and restful with excellent walks near and far when the weather allows. A warm and comfortable cottage. Great night sleep. Parking behind the cottage. We had a fabulous week.
