The Dairy House sleeping up to 2 guests

Character cottage in secluded setting on tree lined avenue, just for couples, take the trail to Ariundle Oakwoods Nature Reserve.
"In a land steeped in legends of the Bonnie Prince – close to Moidart’s sandy shores:"
Where a tree-lined glen opens out onto Loch Moidart and in countryside steeped with tales of Bonnie Prince Charlie, these fine properties stand upon the Kinlochmoidart Estate, within half a mile of the coast and 4 miles from the beach at Glenuig. The Scottish Baronial mansion of Kinlochmoidart House, occupies a marvellous position amidst some of Scotland’s most magnificent West Country scenery. It has been sensitively formed into three residences; two are careful conversions of an extensive service wing, while the main house (part of which is still the owners’ home) is a substantial property laid out over three floors and forming the middle portion of the building. The remaining three properties presented here are separately set in secluded locations within the vast grounds, comprising extensive shared gardens and the surrounding 2,000 acre estate grounds, which grant opportunities for excellent hill walking and fine varied fishing (fly fishing is available by arrangement). Very comfortably furnished, cosily heated and well-equipped throughout, each provides the perfect holiday retreat from which to enjoy an abundance of interests and scenic splendour with which this area is blessed at all times of the year.
Designed by William Leiper in 1884, Kinlochmoidart House is one of the finest examples of his work. It features a superb Art Movement interior – tilings, wallpapers, paint work, panelling and many other intricate architectural features have been painstakingly restored and represented, under strict architectural guidance, to return it to its former splendour. It occupies the site of a house which was once the resting place of Prince Charles Edward Stuart during the 1745 Jacobite Revolution – a connection commemorated in a nearby meadow, where seven beech trees symbolise the Seven Men of Moidart, the sum total of the army which he brought from France.
Just a short walk away from the house lies Loch Moidart, where vast expanses of sand are thrown up by the sea at low tide. At the seaward end of this beautiful inlet, sit the ancient ruins of 14th-century clan castle of Tioram (once the stronghold of the Lord of the Isles), providing a focal point for gloriously scenic views. Between nearby Loch Shiel and Loch Sunart, a trail leads through the Ariundle Oakwoods Nature Reserve – a haven for wildlife – whilst southwards, the coast is punctuated by bays of white sand excellent for fishing and shell-collecting, or admiring the views over hill, loch and sea from horse back. Fort William, gateway to Ben Nevis, is a scenic drive away, and the Western Isles, Skye and Ardnamurchan are all accessible. Sailing at Acharade, 6 miles. Golf 30 minutes’ drive. Inn at Glenuig, 4 miles. Shops 7 miles.
Reached along a tree-lined avenue, this cottage of comfort and character, originally the dairy for the estate, enjoys a secluded setting with its own garden. Entrance porch to modern kitchen/dining room with pine furnishings. Small sitting room with open fire. Double bedroom. Shower room with toilet.

    Linda – 13 Nov 2018
"Stunning, stunning location, perfect little house for two, clean, cosy and warm. Plenty of logs left for the log burner. A little more expensive than we would normally pay, but spectacular views by day and amazing night skies. Take plenty bottled water and provisions as nearest community shop and great dog friendly pub The Glenuig Inn are about 15 minutes away by car. Fort William 1 hour away. If you don't want to use the car plenty of interesting trails and walks from the house. We loved the peace and quiet (no mobile phone signal). We saw a stag, deer, red squirrels, eagles and herons. This is an ideal location to rest and relax. We would recommnd S22559 and will come again soon."

"We loved our stay at S22559 and we would definitely come back again , the grounds are beautiful and the place is so quiet . It was nice taking our dog around the grounds and taking in the walks . The cottage itself was spot on both in size and set up and with the log burner was very cozy on a night"

"We loved the location we always look for places with walks for the dog without having to jump in the car .We took everything we needed food and drink so only had a run in the car for bread and milk in the week .The grounds are spectacular!S22559 is within site of the main house has its own surrounding garden area chickens at the end of the driveway. We had such a relaxing week immersed in the history of the whole estate would not hesitate to book again ."
    Alison – 27 Jul 2018
"Beautiful little cottage. Always shaded by the amazing mature trees so needs the stove which burns the wood provided very efficiently."
    Ronald – 15 Jul 2018
"A lovely cottage with everything you could need. Very comfortable cottage.Beautiful setting and lovely walks. As I had a dog I would have preferred to know before hand that there were Pedigree Hens on the estate and that meant we needed to keep our dog leashed."
    Nick – 4 Apr 2018
"S22559 at Kinlochmoidart is a lovely retreat in the midst of amazing countryside.Comfortable furniture, excellent log burner, nicely appointed new kitchen - and deer grazing on the lawn outside !"
    Lee – 24 Mar 2018
"My wife and I have just returned from a lovely 4 day break in this wonderful cottage and after reading some previous reviews I didn't exactly know what to expect; however we were in for a treat! The pictures on the website do not do this place justice. The open fire has been replaced by a lovely log burning stove which is easy to light and soon has the lounge lovely and warm with the large supply of logs provided. There is also a new sofa, chairs and carpet. The kitchen has been replaced with some new appliances (the kettle no longer leaks for those whose holiday this spoilt!) and there is a lovely large shower cubicle in the bathroom. With plenty of heating throughout we were never cold even at this time of year. The nearest shops are around a 10 minute drive so stock up on supplies and one of the nicest things for us was there is no mobile phone signal. Absolute peace and quiet is guaranteed in this wonderful, romantic part of Scotland. A big thanks goes to Mrs Stewart the owner."
