Site Description

Wildside Highland Lodges is part of our Evermore Lodge Holidays Collection, nestling in idyllic woodland on the banks of the River Fechlin, deep in the heart of the Highlands. The best of traditional Scotland meets the ultimate luxury escape.

A backdrop of stunning mountain scenery characterises this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Located on the majestic South Loch Ness Trail, the new exciting trail takes in seven lochs and stretches 28 miles between Loch Tarff to Troutbeck with several awe inspiring viewpoints where Loch Ness stretches out before you. Wildside offers enough activities to keep even the most active amused and the perfect retreat for creating cherished family holiday memories your way.

Favoured by rare red deer among its host of wildlife, this nature lovers’ paradise is a rich patchwork of heather-clad hills, lush dark forests, sparkling lochs – including fabled Loch Ness – and breathtaking panoramic views begging exploration. Meanwhile, both Fort Augustus and Inverness are easily accessible by car and make for great family days out for all to enjoy.

Good points:The surrounding area of the Lodges and the site itself was beautiful, very clean and well maintained. The lodge was cleaned to a high standard, it was furnished well and it was plenty big enough for a family although there was only two of us. The hot tub was great and location thought out well to provide lots of privacy, though it would have been better if we could adjust the temperature as it was sometimes too hot!The log burner and free blocks that we got was perfectBad points:Location - although it was beautiful and out of the way, there was only a hotel in the village that did meals and a small bar area, no shops or anything and nothing on site to buy drinks/food from. The nearest mini mart was 15 miles away and mega expensiveStaff were hardly ever at reception and signal from both mobile data and the site's WiFi was non-existent so contacting them was near impossibleShower was slow flowing and tepid at best; if we wanted the shower to flow faster, it would go colder. Dryer didn't work, we spent 2 hours trying to dry the clothes we had washed and had to give up and use a hairdryer

Had a nice couple of nights at these lodges. I would say they were very overpriced and could be done with a tidy up (lick of paint) but the staff were lovely and the apartments were clean

Lodge itself was very tatty and dated, sofa had scuff marks all over, light fittings were like something from the 1980's and extremely dusty. Bed was very very creaky to the point of waking up every time somebody moves. Our bedding had a tea stain on the duvet cover. Facilities were literally enough to last 2x people for one day ie 2 knives and forks. Reception was closed every time we past (not during closing hours, we are talking 10/11am on a Saturday). Issues may not seem a great deal but for 200+ per night you would expect better.Hot tub was great and dressing gowns were a nice touch. Whitebridge hotel is very close to the site and the food is fantastic.Overall, I would not recommend the 1x bed lodges (we were in Raven they were all designed the same). I cannot speak for the others on site.
