The Inverness area, the beaches of the East Coast and the West Coast are all within driving distance in a day. The North to South train stop at the local station in Newtonmore.

With off-road parking and a spacious, shared garden, this convenient holiday home is an ideal base for a family holiday to the picture-perfect landscapes of Scotland. Red squirrels can be seen scampering on the tall Scots pines which surround the garden containing picnic tables for the guests and there is a large grass area for games. Creag Dubh hill ,a local landmark, overlooks the garden.

On arrival at the property, step into the open-plan living space and discover plush seating where you can kick off your shoes and relax after your journey.

Have the chef of your group rustle up a delicious dinner in the kitchen area and sit down to dine as a family while you plan your day’s adventures.

When sleep calls, take advantage of two well-presented bedrooms, the first being a double with an en-suite shower room and the second being a twin, ideal for younger guests or friends sharing.

When you wake, enjoy your morning coffee with your loved ones, before freshening up in the bathroom and heading out for a day filled with fun.

Nearby, culture vultures of your group can visit Britain’s first open air museum, The Highland Folk Museum, where you can step back in time and experience life in the Highlands from 1700s to 1950s. There is no charge for entry and is open April to Oct. The Clan Macpherson Museum is only 10 minutes walk from The Coach House and it holds the history of the famous clan.

Step into nature with a day at the Invereshie and Inshriach National Nature Reserve which is perfect when you want to stretch your legs and explore, or perhaps the Highland Wildlife Park for a chance to meet an array of exotic animals. Golden eagles and ospreys can be seen nesting and flying in the surrounding environment. The local wild Cat Trail is on the doorstep and is an excellent day’s walk. First get information from Wild Cat centre, opposite the Post Office in Newtonmore.

Further afield, take a trip to Landmark Forest Adventure Park for a family-friendly day out with rides and both indoor and outdoor activities to enjoy.

Of course, you can scrap the itinerary and relish in the exceptional beauty that is the Cairngorms National Park, be that on foot, on skis, by bike, or covering plenty of ground with a tour in the car.

Newtonmore is a popular holiday centre, a small village in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Newtonmore has amenities including shops, pubs, two museums and the Newtonmore Craft Centre. Walkers will enjoy the 'Wildcat Trail', a 7 mile circular walk around the village taking in the River Spey, woodland, moorland and mountain views. There is so much to enjoy close to Newtonmore, from birdwatching and cycling to climbing and skiing.
