Travelling to France is so easy, whether it is by air, ferry or rail; there is something to suit everyone. There is an ever increasing range of cheap flights to France available from most UK international airports, including Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and London. Ferries run frequently from many UK ports, including Dover, Portsmouth,and Plymouth and Eurotunnel offers rail links via the Channel Tunnel, if you prefer to drive to your destination.
France has an excellent road and motorway network. Compared to the UK, it has a similar sized population, but the country is just over twice the size of the UK, which tends to mean less congestion on the roads and easier driving. Atlantic, continental or Mediterranean, the French climate is remarkably diverse, offering a great range of climates to suit everyone.
France has so much to offer; explore the dramatic coastline of Brittany with its Celtic influence and fine regional seafood, the Loire Valley, an enchanted land of vineyards, flowers and rolling green hills dotted with more than a thousand chateaux. The Poitou-Charentes region on the central west coast of the Atlantic is one of the mildest in France, and the coastal area of this region is one of the sunniest in France. Languedoc-Roussillon with its long sandy beaches is one of France’s major wine growing areas. The French Alps boast some of Europe’s top skiing destinations, offering the broadest range of skiing opportunities anywhere in Europe, as well as a huge range of summer outdoor activities including hiking, mountaineering, kayaking, cycling and much more. Or, you may prefer to visit the Champagne region to the east of Paris where the famous vineyards of Champagne lie on the chalky hills to the south west of Reims, and around the town of Epernay.
