Stunning views and private pool
We loved La Maison Des Moines - on the edge of a tiny hilltop village this stone villa looks across a sweeping valley of patchwork fields of mostly vines, fruit trees and wheat to a hilltop Chateau dating back to the 14th century. The only sounds were of the church bells letting us know it was time to open a local Cote De Durras. We like that the village had only one store and one restaurant. We like that it was local not “touristy”. The cottage is restored just enough and has the laid-back charm you would expect to see in the pages of “Cote Sud” magazine. With the perfectly situated pool, the outside dining, etc, etc. it became difficult to leave to explore the wonders of the area. We did drag ourselves away and visited many of the Lot-et Garonne and the Dordogne villages, chateaux, gardens and woodlands and on the way bought provisions from the local markets. Cooking at La Maison Des Moines is a delight with a kitchen obviously set-up by passionate foodies. Generously fitted out the house is a fabulous setting if you want to break the serenity and entertain. Thank you to our hosts for the amazing attention to detail (fresh flowers on the table had me straight away!) and their generosity obvious throughout the house and in our contact with them.

Just returned from a lovely week at the villa. The location is fantastic with plenty of places to visit within 20mins and the local village has a great shop to provide essentials. The villa itself was fantastic…..beautiful decor, the best equipped kitchen ever, lovely pool, comfortable sun beds (!), unbelievable views plus all the extras (bikes, table tennis, boules etc). A real bonus was having a stocked kitchen on arrival and plenty of information about the villa, surrounding area and places to visit. The host and owners were always there if we needed anything and made us feel very welcome.
