Holiday Cottages In Whitby To Rent

Whitby has a wide range of holiday cottages to choose from including cosy havens for two and spacious retreats for larger groups

Found on the Yorkshire coast, Whitby has a wonderful wide, sandy beach and is surrounded by the North York Moors National Park. With so much natural beauty in easy reach, this beautiful town is an idyllic spot for a cottage holiday.

What to do in Whitby

This town is full of charm, with quirky cobbled streets and a rich history. It’s not surprising that many people visit Whitby to browse its boutique shops; including the renowned Whitby jet jewellery. Whitby is also home to annual events including the Bram Stoker International Film Festival and the Whitby Goth Weekend.

Perhaps most famous for its Abbey, no trip to Whitby would be complete exploring these ruins. The Abbey is found atop the East Cliff headland and can be reached from the town by 199 steps. The views are certainly worth the climb, and an audio tour can tell you the remarkable story of this spot as you explore.

Whitby is also well known for it’s links to Dracula. To find out more about this connection, be sure to visit the Dracula Experience at the seafront, as well as Bram Stoker Memorial seat. For more of the town’s rich history, stop by at the Captain Cook Memorial Museum. Here you’ll find a treasure trove of items including Cook’s letters, a model of his ship ‘Resolution’ and other interesting documents.

Nearby you can visit Robin Hood’s Bay, Runswick Bay, or Helmsley

Holiday Cottages in Whitby

Whitby is the perfect destination if you’re looking for a seaside holiday with plenty of character. Famous – in part – as one of Dracula’s old haunts, why not sink your teeth into a great choice of holiday cottages in Whitby? There are lots on offer, whether you’re looking for a historic property with excellent sea views, or pet-friendly accommodation with oodles of space.

The historic seaside town of Whitby is unique for its historic charm, a lure for families since Georgian times and still hugely popular with all sorts of visitors today. The town distinguishes itself as an iconic Gothic destination and was the landing spot for Bram Stoker’s Dracula. A cottage holiday is a great way to experience this top resort, giving you and the family the freedom experience this amazing town on your own terms.

Why go on a Whitby cottage holiday?

While every cottage is different, some are old historic buildings and a great choice if you’re looking to step back in time. In Whitby, history is very much alive – you could even say undead – and Whitby Abbey is just one of the historic local landmarks that were in the Dracula novel, as well as being definitely worth a visit in its own right for the stunning architecture.

For the more squeamish, you can give Dracula a wide berth with plenty more things to see and do in this beautiful corner of North Yorkshire. You might consider heading away from the seaside and enjoying a bracing hike along Cleveland Way, which offers some amazing cliff-top views as you head towards Robin Hood’s Bay.

If you’re looking for that authentic seaside holiday, Whitby delivers on every level. The Victorian-era Whitby pavilion always has something great going on, including theatre, festivals and art events. And, of course, you’ll find all the trappings of the British seaside, from charming little shops to amusement arcades and tea rooms, and, it’s widely acknowledged, the best fish and chips in the country.

Make the most of your trip to Whitby and choose your dream accommodation. With Whitby cottages, you can enjoy a holiday without the hassle, as you enjoy all the privacy and convenience of your own little hideaway by the sea.
