Peak District Holiday Cottages

The Peak District was the first National Park. Formed in 1951, following the Mass Trespass of Kinder Scout, the population demanded open space access for all. It is the most visited National Park in England. 'The Peaks' are located in the centre of the UK at the southern end of the Pennines between Manchester and Sheffield and easily accessible by train along the beautiful Edale, Hope and Derwent Valleys. The wild moorland landscape offers rambling, mountain bike and pony trekking adventures. Challenging climbing can be found on Stanage Edge near Sheffield and the Roaches in Staffordshire. The area is renowned for world class caving too. The reservoirs around The Peak also allow for dinghy sailing and fishing opportunities. Local visitor centres at Bakewell, Castleton, Edale and Upper Derwent are a mine of information and can give guidance on year round activities and attractions including guided walks. Buxton is an elegant Victorian spa town, famous for its mineral water and being the highest market town in England.
