Peak District Holiday Cottages & Accommodation

The Peak District covers 555 square miles of central England. Welcoming 13 million people yearly, the Peak District is a popular holiday destination. Find your perfect cottage in this wild and exciting place by booking with Last Minute Cottages. With us, you'll discover luxury accommodation; great deals and adventure go hand in hand.

Holidays in the Peak District

Walking

Castleton, Mam Tor and The Great Ridge Walk is a well-known six and a half mile route taking you up Mam Tor, the summit of which has one of the best views in the Peak District. Another excellent walk is from Bakewell to Chatsworth House. You'll get views of Chatsworth House, and Edensor has delicious afternoon tea. A pleasant circular walk is the Longshore Estate and Padley Gorge Walk. This family-friendly walk starts and ends in a tearoom on the beautiful Longshore Estate. With incredible open views, this gentle walk takes you through ancient woods at Padley Gorge. Walking in the Peak District is a fantastic, family-friendly activity; you'll want the perfect cottage to return to and put your feet up. Last Minute Cottages provides a wide selection of professionally managed cottages where you and your family can get a blissful night's sleep, ready for the next day's activities.

Hiking

There are many hiking routes for those looking for a more significant challenge than a walk. The Kinder Scout Plateau Circuit is 19 miles long and has an ascent of 650 meters. When you reach the summit, you will get the best view of the Peak District. The downward trip returns you safely to Edale. Another demanding hike is the 29 mile Peak District section of the Pennine Way, usually completed over two days. The ascent is 1200 meters with various terrains, from smooth pathways to slippery moss. There are a variety of routes, some harder than others. When choosing your spur-of-the-moment cottage remember that we have cottages with pools and hot tubs, great for those achy feet after a long hike.

Where to stay in the Peak District

Villages and Towns

If you want a picturesque village, go no further than Hartington. The village's main attractions are the postcard cottages, winding narrow lanes, a famous cheese shop, and a duckpond in the middle of the village, which is perfect for the kids. Ashford-in-the-Water is a small village full of idyllic cottages, cosy pubs and a 13th century church. Just outside the village is Thornbridge Hall and Gardens, a country house well worth visiting. Exploring the villages and towns is an adventure without being too exhausting. When choosing a cottage, you can be sure that we are finding the best cottage deals for you, and with our market-leading customer service team, we can help you any step of the way.

Best places to stay

  • Castleton is an excellent starting point for walkers.
  • Bakewell is the home of Bakewell Tart and close to Chatsworth House.
  • Buxton is ideal for kids, with the Go Ape Adventure Park.
  • Edale is the first stop on the Pennine Way, so perfect for hikers.
