  We had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful abode for a very special Anniversary, and we are so happy we did!

  It has everything one could possibly want and more for a relaxing break away. It was spotlessly clean (and we are very picky about cleanliness), extremely comfortable and peaceful. The owners are so lovely and have great, fast communication. The whole process from booking, checking in and leaving was a breeze. The owners have also gone the extra mile on little touches, from personalised The Lanterns items and decor (which made the accommodation feel more like a luxury hotel) to really thoughtful and very generous welcome gifts, all from local Buxton sources. You can tell that the owners genuinely care about their product and that you enjoy your stay to the upmost. The location of the property is perfect, just a short peaceful stroll into the hustle and bustle of lovely Buxton and equally a perfect location for anyone visiting the other wonderful delights the Peak District has to offer. We would definitely book to come and stay at The Lanterns again, we loved it! Thank you very for a wonderful stay!!

  We found The Lanterns to be very comfortable and well appointed with everything we needed for our stay.

  The apartment is very close to the centre of Buxton with easy access to the Pavilion gardens and town centre. Despite the clear arrival instructions it is not the easiest place to find on arrival in the street and a suggestion would be that the small lantern sign at the entry to the lane is a bit more obvious. When we booked originally the information on Sykes stated that bed linen and towels were supplied. I checked this information on various occasions after booking. We then discovered after we had left home a week before our booking that towels being provided was no longer on the Sykes information. Fortunately the owner supplied them for us without any problem and we were very grateful for this. It was easy to contact the owner if necessary.

  This is a beautiful ground floor apartment.

  It’s really comfortable and warm and well presented. There was a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and cake which we very much appreciated after a very long journey. We couldn’t open the key safe on arrival, so upon ringing the owner, he contacted his mother who lives next door and she showed us the knack. She reassured us not to hesitate to ask for any other assistance we might need. The next day I received a text from the owner who hoped we’d settled in and again said to contact him should the need arise. We would really recommend this holiday cottage. It’s just a few minutes walk from the heart of Buxton, which is a really lovely historic spa town with a lot to see and do and an amazing number of good restaurants.

  Whilst the property itself was well presented and tastefully furnished, there are some issues to feedback.

  Firstly the grass had not been cut, it was at least 12” high, we therefore had to cut it before we could use the garden. The garden was not enclosed, as our 2 small dogs were able to get through the ornate fencing, we therefore had to create a barrier with bin bags, not ideal and not very relaxing. One bathroom, especially 1 toilet, for 2 families was a push; no shower mat and no bath mat provided; no proper bin; no recycling instructions - had to go on line to look these up; no stair gate to prevent dogs going upstairs; bike store locked so unable to be used; ‘on leaving’ cleaning instructions were unbelievable! Really do you expect guests to do that, yes leave it clean and tidy but not go to that extreme.

  If we could give a 100 stars for this cottage, then we would.

  The owner was lovely and allowed us to go in early and kept us fully informed about the cottage. 10/10 Customer Service. The cottage was just so beautiful, very very clean, and just so cosy. The welcome package, cakes and mulled wine was very welcomed, thank you so much. The beds in the cottage were just so comfortable and very well needed after a day walking around the beautiful village of Tideswell. We had the most wonderful weekend and the local people, including Amy the owner, were some of the most friendliest people we have ever met! Thank you once again, and we hope to visit again sometime soon. Finally, we will be sure to recommend Angel Cottage to all our friends and family.
