Enjoying a superb location surrounded by the stunning Peak District National Park and the local amenities right on your doorstep, Alma Cottage is a fantastic family-friendly choice for couples or a family of four. Head upstairs, where you will find a stylish bathroom, complete with bath and walk-in shower, along with a tastefully decorated super-king-size bedroom with zip/ink. Follow the stairs up to the second floor, where you’ll find the second bedroom, a well-presented king-size with en-suite cloakroom. Explore the town, where you can delve into history at the Buxton Museum & Art Gallery, picnic in Buxton Park, catch a live performance at the Buxton Opera House, stock up on essentials at the convenience stores and supermarkets, treat your loved ones to a meal out at The Arches Artisan Market & Bar, Ithaca Greek Taverna, and Michelangelos, hike up to Solomon’s Temple, or explore the fascinating Poole’s Cavern. Venture into the Peak District National Park, where you can enjoy a plethora of scenic hikes and bike rides, here you’ll find Bakewell, home to the Thornbridge Brewery, The Original Bakewell Pudding Shop, the esteemed Chatsworth House, and nearby Haddon Hall. Further afield, you will find Matlock, where you can enjoy leisurely strolls through Hall Leys Park, hop aboard the Peak Rail, soak up the views from atop Pic Tor War Memorial, or head to neighbouring Matlock Bath, where you can dine on fresh seafood at The Seafood Cave & Grill, explore The Great Rutland Cavern and tour The Peak District Mining Museum. All this and more awaits at Alma Cottage.

The Romans were drawn to Buxton because of the town's eight hot springs, whose bubbling blue waters maintain a constant temperature of 28 degrees centigrade year-round. The Palladian splendour of modern-day Buxton, including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens, and The Opera House, was, however, designed and built during the 18th and 19th centuries under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire. Today, the Opera House's full schedule and annual festivals in music and the arts continue to draw crowds to these spectacular structures and gardens. Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton, and Edale are just a few of the lovely towns and villages strewn around the area, and there are plenty of opportunities for hiking in the nearby harsh peaks to the north and pleasant hills and dales to the south. In close proximity to this location are the breathtaking mansions of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Fabulous location from which to discover the Peak District.

Probably the cleanest place we've stayed in We didn't like the instruction manual telling us to put out the "trash" etc. It felt quite patronising and shouty We also didn't appreciate the email from Sykes with a £40 discount code that didn't actually work when we tried to use it!

We were on a hiking holiday so didn't use kitchen or dining room hardly but did notice everything was there you needed my only upgrade would be to add another cupboard as there was only 1 small cupboard for kitchen storage luckily we just used worktop for bread and snacks. Living room we didn't use but was nice to see it had what you needed. Bathroom excellent, beds were so comfy, only 2 points I love to watch half hour of TV in bed but neither bedroom had tvs only a small niggle and the large first floor bed had a ridge in the middle due to being 2 singles but got a lovely night's sleep. Thank you to the hosts I would love to stop again.

Very homely with everything u would need. Although it is 2 bedroom I think if 4 adults stayed it would b a bit tight on space. Shame it doesn’t have an outdoors space. That said I would stay again.
