What our customers say about their holidays

On arrival was informed heating was turned off but told it got colld at night ?
?. we could however acess 15mins of heat from the electric fire by presing a button. On going to bed the sheets and duvet felt damp and cold and the mattress was cheap lumpy and well past its sell by date. all the other beds where the same. Dog Friendly poroperty ??. Once we found the information book we read the entry on dogs. No pet is to left alone in the property for any time and we would be asked to leave on return without a refund if we did. This is rediculous how can you take the dog everywhere with you. Free on site kennels didnt exist full of bins and rubbish. front and back doors patched up with fence panels and not painted. single armschair base had collapsed. shower curtain fell in the bath at first use [cheap extending thing. toilet loose on floor. Sky channels dont exist its freeview only which has a poor signal and breaks up all the time. The remote dosnt work on all the essential buttons so had to keep getting up and manually do it. Whole place just looks run down and skimping on the heat gives the place a musty smell. This cottage has no views of open countryside like the others a fact missing from the description in fact the windows look onto brick walls and are so small you have to have lights on in the daytime. Front Garden has no fence at one end so dog cant be let out without supervision. At just short of £500 for 3 nights expected better check out 9am amd check in 4pm is a bit strong too. British holiday in live all the beaches seem shut to dogs £45 in parking for 3 days. going abroad next year after 40 years of holidaying in the UK enoughs enough. I have pics to back up all i have said in this review. Although i,m sure it will be removed

This is an ideal location for a family holiday.
Four of us and our big dog stayed and my sister, her family and their dog had Forge cottage across the way. There was plenty of room for us all to eat together and hang out in the evenings (ours was a bit bigger with some garden space although theirs had the sea view). It was nice for my teens to have separate bedrooms and their own bathroom. A lot of places for 6 are really for 4 with 2 extras crammed in but this is properly spacious. The cottage was well equipped with everything you could need and it was all very clean. I can confirm the new mattresses are very comfortable. The owners are friendly and helpful but not intrusive (Our shower curtain fell down and Alan fixed it right away). The views from the cottage are amazing and there are lovely walks from the door. Itâs an easy 30-40 mins downhill walk on the Cinder path to Robin Hoods Bay which is absolutely charming and you can walk along the beach (if the tide is out) or along the cliffs to Boggle Hole. The only real downside is that the track up to the farm is steep, unsurfaced and very bumpy. We would not have wanted to attempt it in winter or after dark but that didnât limit us much on a summer family holiday.

This is a great house in a lovely part of Whitby. The tall terraced house has lots of room spread over four floors. We particularly liked the lounge with its views over Whitby and the kitchen which is well laid out for a group of friends to cook together and chat. We also used the front terrace a lot and enjoyed the steam train going by a few times a day. The house is close enough to town to pop in to get provisions and is no more than 15 minutes walk to one of the best beaches in the U.K. Railway chippy did excellent fish and chips. The Cod Roe is an excellent local fishmonger just a few minutes walk away. The local cycling is excellent. Hilly but roads in good condition. The cinder track to Scarborough is great and is quite flat and ideal for a mountain or gravel bike. Would also recommend the Bull Inn in Ugthorpe and any of the Esk Valley villages of Egton, Grosmont, Goathland, Lealholm, Sleights, Ruswarp (good garden centre and cafe) etc. Coastal villages of Staithes, Sandsend and Robins Hood Bay are great but loads of others to visit.

We had a lovely five day stay here recently.
A beautiful house which accommodated four adults, one child and two dogs very easily. The beds were so very comfortable; the dining room was big enough for us all and the kitchen was well equipped. Only a short downhill walk into Whitby which was lovely at night time. Access may be tricky for those with mobility issues as a lot of stairs but thatâs clear on the description. Parking was a huge bonus but itâs a busy little street so Iâd advise reversing into the spaces. A few things could have improved our stay - * toilet seats were all wobbly and not secure * missing parts on a bedroom door mechanism * a gate at the top or bottom of the garden steps would make it secure for dogs and children * the âwelcome informationâ book was missing Thank you for sharing your house with us xx

It was a lovely house with with good sized rooms.
Well furnished, good central heating. Could have done with a Kitchen Utensil set and bathroom needed skirting board behind loo cleaning. On our arrival we found the only pan set was very rusty inside the pans. I texted one of the numbers on our paperwork and the gentleman arranged for a quick delivery of very nice stainless steel pans delivery a couple of days later. He also provided quick answers to any questions. One thing I did not like.. when we stripped the beds we found that the back bedroom Mattress Protector was badly stained. Otherwise a brilliant week and in a really nice house. Walking distance to the centre and the hill soon became easier to climb. Took a trip to Scarborough and one to Bridlington. Plenty of shops and supermarkets a short drive from the house.
