About this property

Listen to the sound of the waves from the terrace and balcony at La Tour, a very special beachfront holiday house in Normandy. This unique brick tower right on the beach enjoys a dramatic view over the sea. It’s perfect for a couple or small family wanting a unique and memorable holiday experience.

Built in 1865 by a painter, the tower has been completely renovated to retain its charm, maximise space and provide modern comforts. The two bedrooms, on the first and third floors, include a double bedroom with a terrace and another with three single beds (one bunk style). Shower after the beach in a convenient ground floor shower room, or the second shower room upstairs. The kitchen has up to date appliances like a glass electric hob, and the cosy sitting room opens up to the balcony.

La Tour is perfectly located just a short stroll from a charming village on the Côte Fleurie, between the well known resort of Deauville and the historic port of Honfleur. The beautiful seaside town of Deauville has plenty to entertain everyone, with a casino, golf, tennis and riding, as well as both fine dining and small charming bistros. Food lovers will appreciate the weekly markets in Honfleur and Trouville and don't miss out on tasting the local Calvados in one of the many nearby cellars.

This is also a great base for exploring the D-Day Landing beaches such as Arromanches and Omaha, both of which could be combined with a trip to the historical town of Bayeux with its elegant 17th-century buildings and of course the famous Bayeux Tapestry. During your day out try the Coquilles Saint Jacques in the charming Port en Bessin.

Located on the Côte Fleurie, just a short walk from the heart of a charming village. There is a Restaurant-Bar Brasserie and beach just a very short walk away or you can head further up the hill to the village for other facilities such as more restaurants, cafes, lovely shops and a grocery store. There is also a watersports centre just a few steps from La Tour, open Wednesday to Sundays in the summer, plus tennis courts in the village.

This is a historic village known by painters, musicians and has featured in many films...you can see the attraction! It has recently been named a ‘village of character’ thanks to its commitment to conservation with its narrow streets and original characteristics. Wander around the foot paths in the nearby Parc des Graves with a play area and picnic tables for the kids and find the ‘Roches Noires’; the clay and limestone cliffs, a little further on.

There are some other beautiful seaside villages nearby. Deauville (8km), from the 'la belle époque' era, is great for smart shops, cafes and people watching. This cosmopolitan resort has a large and beautiful beach, a marina, and a casino.  It’s where Parisians tend to come for their seaside retreat. Here you will find wonderful sandy beaches, tennis, golf and horse-riding.

Honfleur (10km) is the oldest medieval fishing and sailing port in France and has been painted by some of the most popular artists of the 20th century including Monet and Manet.

Highlights of the area also include one of France's oldest University cities, Caen (60km) and the stunning granite island of Mont St Michel (approx. 200km), one of France’s most visited attractions. The Château de Falaise (70km) is also worthy of a visit to see the castle where William the Conqueror was born.

Normandy is rightly famous for its food - especially the cheeses such as Livarot Camembert, and Pont l'Eveque - and Calvados, the apple brandy. The French love of good food means that all ingredients also have to be of the highest quality.  Seafood is fantastic and local producers are famous in the area for quality, taste, and price. There are excellent local food markets in Honfleur on Saturdays and Trouville on Sundays.

This is also a great base for exploring the D-Day Landing beaches. Arromanches (80km) and Omaha (115km) are examples of two beaches of historical importance as well as the batteries and cliffs of Longues-sur-Mer (102km). Combine with a trip to Bayeux (95km), having a lunch of Coquilles Saint Jacques in the charming Port en Bessin before heading to the historic town. Bayeux is a beautiful town, well known for  the unesco classified Bayeux Tapestry, with many renowned restaurants, elegant 17th century buildings and interesting museums about this fascinating part of Normandy.
